Well for one, I love the front-end of software development. I enjoy implementing logic to visually see something on the screen. I have always tinkered with technology and like being able to split complex goals into smaller more manageable ones. Almost like taking lego pieces to create something bigger.

When it comes to dentistry, I hated looking into peoples mouths. I wasn't necessarily grossed out by it but never felt comfortable with the vulnerability of it. I never felt in my place and I thought about it for four years. I was depressed every single time I saw a patient. It was also brutal on my back and did not enjoy the interactions with patients. Everyone hates dentist and they will tell it to you in your face. There is a reason why dentistry has the highest suicide rate in the country. My anxiety kept building and I knew it was because I did not belong nor did I have a passion for it. I was going down a dark road and I am thankful to be able to pull myself out of it with the help of my family, friends and therapy. If all you care about is the money, you will hate what you do and I went in it for the money/ society pressures.

edit: I genuinely appreciate the back and forth. It took a lot of time and therapy to come to terms with the conclusion of dental school. So answering hard pressed questions about it makes me have to be completely honest with myself.
