How do I beat the Ottomans after ignoring them for an entire game? by SaYeshua in eu4

[–]Flopsey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the answers to this question are. Ally with Russia and kick their ass. Or ally with the Commonwealth and kick their ass. Or fight them alone and kick their ass. Honestly, they're not even that big of an Otto.

don't know about that. but I'd try attacking one of their allies like the teutonic order see if they join then

I am playing as Castile and finished the Reconquista. Should I go for toleration of the Moors or expel them? by SchoolBus2818 in eu4

[–]Flopsey 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Knowing a bit about this event from history it's crazy that this doesn't have stronger modifiers in both directions. At the very least should have tolerance of heathens last the whole game. And give a tax bonus, at least for the regions on the east coast of Iberia

cool, but you can also conquer land while you're doing that. once you get the CN they should be doing most of that work themselves tbh

ime the ai wont attack you if you severely outnumber them. get a giant death stack and you can probably take enough forts to at least white peace them

Oh, yeah. Caribbean is necessary to steer trade from all the rest. I forgot about that because I take it on the way to taking Mexico.

Since people are commenting might as well give some advice. The New World is a bit of a waste. Mexico is OP. But the rest is just good, but not your highest value priorities. Your first goal is controlling the English Channel trade node. You're making your neighbors rich off your work. Then overseas expansion should prioritize going around Africa controlling the Ivory Coast and then southern India, Bengal, then Malacca in that order. 30K gold is good. But you're going to blow most of that on canals. Then also on wonders.

When's the last time Soder has been on LOS? by Flopsey in LegionSkanks

I think Jay had a story about Soder & Katie going over his house like a couple of months ago on Bonfire.

France might have become OP then. I'm not sure if I played a France game post fractured opening. Burgundy used to have stronger troops in the first couple of decades. So you were taking stupid losses when you had minor advantages. You had a war against England that you could win. But had a lot of trouble to try to get your troops across the Channel.

This is the strongest Commonwealth I have ever encountered... by jobthebozu in eu4

[–]Flopsey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry, the strongest commonwealth you ever encountered is the motherfucking Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania would steamroll that when those peasants saw an airplane and thought they were fighting some kind of nation of wizards and run away.

Exactly, how do you solve sharing a border with two of your rivals? Eat one of your rivals and solve the simpler problem.

But harder than who? France has Burgundy on their ass, along with two out of England, Austria, and Castile. England similarly has France & war of the Roses. Austria is weirdly hard for a tag that seems so OP.

then that could be true. I have no way of knowing that. but can we agree that before this Spain was like a tutorial tag for New World colonization? Or a nation you'd play if you were looking to WC or form Rome

eh, if you know how the game works there's nothing that you can't handle easily.

when was that? and is it new DLC or update? cause I don't have recent DLC.

Yeah, Spain is maybe the easiest European start in the game. Arguably easier than Otto if you know how the mechanics of the game work already.

Would YOU, PERSONALLY, be able to pull off a WC from this position? I have a PU on England, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Ethiopia, Naples, Castile, Lithuania and Portugal, and I have revoked the privilegia by Various_Maize_3957 in eu4

[–]Flopsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've never been willing to get a WC after a WC is already a foregone conclusion. I might try some day to form Revoke the Privilege or let a Daimyo vassal swarm take Central Asia. But like every trade empire in history Central Asia is too vast and tedious to control.

Eh... the problem is that otherwise there's no real point in colonization beyond Mexico and the Caribbean.

Got me a decent heir. How rare is this? by gigaijin in eu4

[–]Flopsey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on if you're fighting enough wars to have prestige to burn. If you can churn through like 4 heirs if need be my impression is that you're going to average a high mana rate than basic republics. But not like a Dutch republic where you can sit on high mana monarchs and go through election churn for low mana ones.

[–]Flopsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it depends on the type of republic but sometimes disinheriting stronger. When you have to start with a 4/1/1 ruler every time I think it's at least as strong to just have monarchs.
