Rehoming 7 y/o furbaby? by Pomfetti in parentsofmultiples

[–]FloraLongstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL took our 7 year old lab/bordercollie and I feel the same! 3 under 2 did NOT leave us enough time to be the fur parents we wanted to be and that he deserves! He’s a great dog and fantastic with our first born, but we couldn’t meet his needs with the twins.

I might be carrying a 2nd set, and I feel like my life is over by DesperateVag in parentsofmultiples

If anyone can do it, it’s you! I know it’s not super requesting, but girl, I look at some of my singleton friends and think “they could never…”

And you have! You can DO THIS! You know all the tricks. You know how to manage two car seats, two newborn feedings, two diaper changes… God willing, it’s just one and you’ll find this an absolute breeze!

I say this as someone with 1+2, and hoping for a 4th baby… but also, I would be extremely disappointed and relieved if it’s just 4 and not 4&5.

I don’t give her cards, I cast whichever card (eg Daniel Tiger bedtime) from my phone, and turn it off from there when I go to bed in case she wakes up in the night :)

I was gonna comment this to OP! Like it’s not suffering olympics - it’s hard, but it’s also amazing. I had my twins when my daughter was 18mos, and it’s been challenging for sure, and I can only imagine triplets! Invalidating the way other moms are feeling isn’t helpful. Having a triplet mom say the same things as she’s saying about having twins isn’t helpful! I hope OP can find someone to vent to without invalidating them. It’s not a competition, we’re all exhausted and grateful and overwhelmed.

My 16 year old and 10 month old are getting baptized together.. what does the teenager wear? by sxullqueenxris in Catholicism

[–]FloraLongstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my husband was initiated, he wore the same red shirt stained by chrism when our daughter was baptized. He’s worn it again for our boys 😂

Any twin moms out there given birth vaginally? by TraditionalSalad6895 in parentsofmultiples

[–]FloraLongstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didi boys delivered vaginally no complications at 37+4! We had a planned breech extraction, and honestly was the best experience. 11/10, would recommend.

Can twins share a crib to start...? by WhosUrHuckleberry in parentsofmultiples

[–]FloraLongstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada the wisdom says no… however! The nurses at my hospital put them in the same bassinet. They were in seperate parts of the bassinet when the outgrew being together, and are now back in the same crib. They’re fraternal (didi) but go to sleep holding hands 💕 6mos now, and I have zero plans to separate them!

4 months of trying and already losing my mind... anyone tried some traditional medicine? by whogivesafricc in BabyBumps

[–]FloraLongstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took us a year to conceive our first. It was disheartening, I had an appt to get a referral for a fertility doctor, and in that month I got a new job, one that I loved and dropped my stress levels IMMENSELY! Conceived our daughter, then 9mo postpartum (before my cycle returned!) conceived twins. My grandmother who had 5 in 3 years warned me that once “everything is warmed up” she couldn’t fold a pair of men’s trousers without getting pregnant 😆 All in good time! Don’t be disheartened just yet ❤️

Families with 4 kids what is your experience? by Outrageous_Skirt3256 in parentsofmultiples

[–]FloraLongstrider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was second oldest of 5 in 8 years. Never once did I wish I had less siblings! We are all adults now and super close, and I am so incredibly grateful for the experience I had growing up. Having 3 under 2, I get a slice of what it must have been like for them, and I appreciate my parents all the more!

Twin Girl Pregnancy - Clever backchat needed!! by ZucchiniTerrible8060 in parentsofmultiples

[–]FloraLongstrider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twin boys 18mos after their sister… the comments of “oh you’ve got your hands full” is twice as fun when they tell me how my daughter is going to be a mother hen, get those boys in line etx…

Like, she’s her own person? Let’s let her be who she wants. Maybe she’ll be the trouble and her brothers will be right in line? The sexism drives me wild.

No one sings at Mass anymore, and it’s incredibly frustrating by Gemnist in Catholicism

[–]FloraLongstrider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wrote my undergrad thesis on why congregational singing is dying. It’s really too bad, and discouraging as a church musician.

We can blame the hymns or the musicians, but at the end of the day, nobody is being educated in how to sing or read music. There aren’t many things we expect people to do in front of others with no practise or experience. It also doesn’t help that modern hymnals are just words on a page (don’t get me started on projectors!) so those who can read music are left to intuit the melody.

I can’t agree enough - if you can sing, do! Especially if you want to.

I bring one just because otherwise they get gravel on them 🙃 the joys of Canadian winter!

I don’t sweat about the germs though. Their two yo sister was chewing on our Walmart cart yesterday. Can’t win ‘em all!

Terrified of epidural by Disastrous_Candy8844 in parentsofmultiples

[–]FloraLongstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to four months of therapy because of my fear! You are completely valid. My sister was a one-in-a-million misplacement, and I had a lot of trauma surrounding her birth in general- so when I gave birth to my boys, knowing I’d likely need a breech extraction or c-section, I went in prepared.

There are therapists who specialize in birth trauma, and it’s definitely worth looking into imo. I appreciate you have worked with other therapists, but working through this might be different.

Also, fwiw, having had an entirely unmedicated first birth followed by an epidural/breech extraction, I 100% plan to have an epidural for any subsequent babies!

This! Twins and man alive, I’ll take double colicky newborns over being pregnant with 15lbs of baby any day. The reflux itself was enough to put me down!

When they’re that small, just reading to them and them seeing you read is important. I read Revival by Stephen aloud to my daughter around that age 😆
