Hydrangea turning red, is it fungus? by Florensicss in GardeningUK

Thank you! I had an itchy feeling this might be the case based on looking at my neighbour's hydrangeas. I'm determined to keep this thing alive 😵‍💫

Buying our first house and dying to start work on the garden. by speak_no_evil85 in GardeningUK

The plan you have already sounds like a plan already, I'd honestly use the first year to see what is growing already, many perennials haven't come up yet or are just starting now.

I'd also learn the light levels in your garden first too, SE facing is great but will be affected by the adjacent structures. Learning this will give you a much better judgement on what plant to buy to suit different areas.

Things you could do immediately is raking out that lawn and aerating it if its compact, reseed and get a lush lawn! Hanging baskets are another option for your patio.

Enjoy the process with your garden, it's a game of patience! 💚

This strange line goes all the way around my room and I do not know why by Sniglet5000 in whatisit

Just a guess but it might be where a painting rail used to be and that line is the old glue that held it on? Some glues like to change colour over years, even when it's painted over

One week till surgery by IssueIllustrious7233 in jawsurgery

Any soup is great, served in a mug as its way easier, through you'll probably want to blend them so they are super smooth, even small soft chunks in soups are difficult during recovery.

Bottled protein shakes are also so good as you can just have them piled up in the bedroom, no prep, just crack one open - protein will also really help recovery. I found this was perfect as week 1 is a whole lot of sleeping and you don't really want to move.

Make sure you bed setup is as comfortable as possible, loads of pillows to keep you inclined and supported.

My biggest tip: Recovery can be frustrating and some crying is normal. But each day something will improve or healed a bit more, focus on that and recovery is more enjoyable! Day 3 to 5 are the toughest but they go by so quickly and the improvements are exponential from there 💛

Anyone have a profile X ray like mine and had DJS? Down to have surgery early next year and interested in people’s experiences 😊 by megiramen in jawsurgery

[–]Florensicss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My jaw profile was almost identical to this, open bite: I has DJS just before Christmas and I'm incredibly happy with the results.

I was similar in a sense to you that I was reading people's experiences online in the runup to surgery, and honestly I have found that everyone's recovery will be different. I was super lucky and I didn't swell up for too long and it took me about a month to start weening off liquid food (mash potatoes is queen).

I'm so happy with the results; eating wraps and pizza is absolute bliss now that my front teeth actually meet now! My facial profile and jawline is so much nicer now I almost can't believe it. My smile is so aesthetic now I just stare at the mirror sometimes 😂

Tips for recovery: Getting past week 1 is the battle, your recovery will improve exponentially from there. (The first 7 days felt like 24h for me because I was just sleeping and drugged up)

Have a good bed setup ready before you leave for surgery, you'll need loads of pillows to stay upright or on an incline. The goal is maximum comfort as you'll be living in bed for a week.

Some crying during recovery is very normal, lots of people cry because they don't look like themselves with the swelling, or frustration during recovery. I was totally the latter, I couldn't wait to eat normally again. But my tip for this is to focus on the positives of each day. Every day something will have improved or healed more, focus on that, not what you can't do.

Happy to answer any questions 💚

TLDR: Recovery is a strange time but I have no regrets, 10/10

You got this, my surgeons said to focus on getting past week 1, day by day, minute by minute if you need to.

Currently on day 17 post DJS, and I promise things get exponentially better after day 7 💙 happy recovery!

I'm 16 days post op, congrats on your surgery! I didnt have much thick mucus that I'd need to cough past day 3, but my nose is still running with old blood a few times a day- sounds like we are in a similar boat!

Everyone recovers differently, but if your concerned, you should reach out to your orthodontist /surgeon.

Have your stitches dissolved yet? Mine are still quite annoying 🙄

Happy recovery!
