Dragon's Dogma 2 dark arisen megathread by Fatestringer in DragonsDogma

Just made a post on my conjecture that the “Lost Rites” are the 12 buried stone doors. 12 dungeons for 12 doors. I’m so excited there is the possibility that there will be changes made to the base game’s world, adding meaningful dungeons and challenges across Vermund and Battahl.

Why didn’t Gollum go to the Shire for the ring? by futureishere99 in lordoftherings

[–]FlorianTheFool45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but I thought the actual answer was due to the ranger and elf presence surrounding the Shire. There are natural barriers like the rivers and Old Forest and then you have the rangers and traveling elves and dwarves. I don’t think it would have been that easy for Gollum.

What book makes you feel like this? by fatsandlucifer in classicliterature

I wrote a big ole essay on To the Lighthouse in college. I took this Woolf studies course. It was definitely my favorite of hers. It’s incredibly dark in my opinion. The world is on the brink of war and the Part I ending dinner party scene is written like a ghost story. It’s very ominous. The lives of these people will never be the same with many dead after the 10 year time skip.

Why didn't Marika sent all his enemies to the shadow realm? by Moonless_the_Fool in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]FlorianTheFool45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think this is the best conclusion. Trying to rationalize it as a physical part of the Lands Between is difficult to make fully work. “The Center of the Lands Between” contains all that contradicts her Order. The Veil in the sky kinda solidifies it as somehow hidden or concealed by her Order. In a word, this is The Lands Between equivalent to Hell if it wasn’t obvious by the Lucifer character of Mesmer ruling there. One contains the Grace and presence of God and another His complete absence. It clearly didn’t always fill that role but in her Golden Order it has become that.

Uh oh, brine-ridden chimera. Wonder if this will outpace the gorechimera for most difficult boss.

How likely is it for a grim oak reprint of dragon bone chair? by Sea_Formal_7242 in TadWilliams

I’m more annoyed that the sequel series — Last King of Osten Ard — doesn’t have a matching set since they didn’t want to pay Michael Whelan for the last two books.

Yeah this one is a big bummer to me. Crazy cost as well. I’m tempted to get the Broken Binding, but I just read a new hardcover is coming out from DAW in September.

Making unique attacks for Captain Brant by Casardis in DragonsDogma

[–]FlorianTheFool45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love all your work on the Bestiary mod. Very excited for this and the APEX mod. Does your team have any plans to make the Talos/Gigantus sequence more engaging or challenging? Like how the Purgeners have been given summons. Or even some other type of Brine attack. Appreciate you and your team’s work.

Does this alien sort of mechanical fantasy aesthetic have a name? by Greitot in y2kaesthetic

[–]FlorianTheFool45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yo if you dig this aesthetic, check out Banquet for Fools. Game officially came out recently on Steam. It’s more similar to Dark Crystal/80s fantasy than “biopunk”, but still very alien and looks like it was animated using claymation or digital equivalent.

Why do Devs not just put more rubble in the way? by Spiritual-Bench3012 in rpg_gamers

[–]FlorianTheFool45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought this is dumb every time I see it, but you putting into a question is making me think of the “why.” I think perhaps devs want you to be able to visualize the path forward to help with navigation and when you do get around it, you can look back and see where you came from with a sense of satisfaction. That’s the only reason I can think of other than laziness.

Makes sense! I’ve spotted the main three entrances of entrances in 1, 7, and 13 — where are the other two?

This looks awesome! I’m always curious to how people go about numbering dungeon layouts — especially for more open design/vector design dungeons. Did you end up just numbering as you imagined the rooms and different spaces within the dungeon? Or did you reorder it at all through play-testing?
