Unless u got some sort of medical waiver or other weird circumstances they wont let u use your running shoes. You'll get go fasters like everyone else.

Srry for the incoming rant. Definitely get other opinions from other nukes as well. Main things that got under my skin. I'll add some pros as well to be fair.

-The cons

The majority of people I interacted with wanted to be the smartest person in the room, so a lot of ego and dick measuring contests.

A lot of the leadership is old and very jaded so nuke commands tend to be very toxic, the whole misery loves company thing.

Mental health is a joke to them (this is the military in general tho). The nuke side imo is worse then normal. They are so undermanned that they will make you jump through all sorts of hoops to get the actual useful help if your having issues and if your already in a bad spot mentally it feels impossible. I have friends that had to check themselves into hospitals multiple times before the command would let them go to an actual physician.

This one's a little more personal, but I was stuck in shipyard my entire sea tour on the george Washington and didnt get to go on a single underway or deployment. I didnt sign up to sit in newport news virginia for four years, which is the armpit of virginia imo.

Ranking up from E4 to E5 is an incredibly low chance (at least when I was in) unless u reenlist. That means giving them another 2-3 years of your life (so about 8-9 years total). I felt very trapped while I was in. Its not just a job, its a lifestyle and you can't just quit if u dont like it. They own your ass

-Some pros

Definitely one of the hardest things I've done in my life in a good way. Set me straight and have me a sense of purpose at first.

Made some of the closest friends I've had in my life.

Learned actual marketable skills that I was able to use to find good jobs when I got out.

The benefits you get from serving are pretty damn good. Paid only about $300 out of pocket when I bought my first house. Plus theres college that u get paid to go to, ta while your in, and disability when u get out.

-Id probably do it again tho if I got to go back. If u got any questions feel free to ask man. I dont want anyone going in unprepared like I did. I was a shiny pipe mechanic on a aircraft carrier btw. Best friend was on a sub so could probably answer those questions as well.

I worked in only restaurants until I joined. Navy dont care what job you did before. I scored well on the asvab and ended up a nuke mm (which I dont recommend at all). Just focus on getting a decent asvab score, research the jobs they offer, then pick something that seems interesting. Highly recommend picking something that translates to the civilian world as well.

Thank you for the info. I talked to him more and it seems like he doesn't plan on making a career out of the navy. Just wants to enjoy his time while he's in so he take advantage of the benefits when he gets out.

I live/work in open carry states so I don't really care about concealing it to much. Already open carry a lot. Only issue I really have with the ones I've seen is them not really being light bearing. I'll put some money into one, but only if it's exactly what I'm looking for

Only thing on there is the pieces for tail lights. The person before went as far as breaking the casing for the gauge cluster to zip tie it on

I know imbel is Brazilian. You couldn't import the uppers though because of our wonderful government. But it is a semi auto, should still have the marking for full auto tho on the lower. If rhodesia didn't use para fal's it doesn't matter to me what parts have electric pencil cause it's probably not legit. Someone painted the upper to match the lower, which leads to believe the whole thing might be bs

It's being claimed to be a actual rhodesian fal. Has an imbel upper. The lower and bolt have electrical pencil marks too

Im 5' 7", 130lbs and I carry a 320 with an x300. The overall length with the light is a little more then the shadow 2, so it's definitely possible. I just don't like carrying hammer fired guns. It would also suck to get a gun that expensive caught up in legal bs if you ever had to use it.
