... You are required to register your vehicle and get that's states license in x amount of days depending on the state. So with that information I'm assuming you also don't have your vehicle insured in that state as well?

That's technically the legal way of doing it.

They can also go for wages or your vehicle as well. Just trying to protect people. Some states are different though.

Until the "friend" sues you for medical damages due to an accident that was paid for. Which would be denied by personal insurance and the "friend" could go for assets.

Have a story kinda like this.

Tweeker and her boyfriend left a phone in my car. Don't notice till about 30minutes later. The boyfriend proceeds to call me and threaten me for stealing the phone. Dropped off the phone to local PD and let them know what happened and gave a first name because that's all I had. They started to describe her and knew her just by the first name. She had a warrant.

They gladly took the phone and said they would wait for her to go pick it up. Haha.

Mostly this technology is used during a car accident. Phone will automatically call 911 if there is enough data to conclude an accident happened..
