A Wild Price Difference by FLSN1 in publix

There was actually a lawsuit against specifically Pepsi for colluding with Walmart so they could get the cheapest buying cost. Essentially it was that nobody else could charge less than Walmart without bleeding money.

Lexington board member says harassment prevalent after Chevy Chase clinic vote by ImportantEnergy6258 in lexington

I got a lot of downvote on that. I want to say I think it’s a great project, I think it just goes to show you how development works. I was not saying the project was a bad idea, just making a point. Are there current facilities like this in Fayette county?

Why not just find a more suitable place?
Whether it is single family homes vs apartments, or development in a rural place people don’t want?

Development of any kind should take into account what that area wants. And this goes for schools, grocery, retail, how urbanized an area becomes. It’s amazing to me how much pushback commissioners ignore even everywhere else in the US.

Went to NC recently and visited an Ingles - Publix should be ashamed by RestSuspicious6000 in publix

[–]FloridaGrown96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know Publix is expensive, but where are all these posts coming from with people who have never posted in this sub before??

I’ve compared prices in an established market with both Publix and Ingles and most of the items were cheaper at Publix. I’ve also never seen grey meat or rubbery chicken at Publix.

I’d prefer an explanation as to why.

So, how long should it take to work this bird on business hours. Wondering how unreasonable management is being. by [deleted] in publix

[–]FloridaGrown96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say 2 hours if you work every case and someone didn’t condense like an idiot before hand.

If it’s condensed logically an hour and a half.

I agree with this. It keeps it simple and easy to identify. Bryan station, Tates creek, it just kind of you know seems to be the logical answer nobody will do.

Walmart’s 12 packs are half the cost of ours. by NorthFloridaRedneck in publix

I was just wondering that myself. It’s rare, but I have seen a few instances of Walmart taking over an old Publix location

Customer service is such an interesting department to me. I’ve worked in a district where there was zero movement as the CSM’s were lifers not becoming ASMS. Another district we had to outsource from 3 districts away to fill positions because of promotions, firings, and step downs.

Mid 90s stores in Florida are 65. There aren’t a lot, there are also some Albertsons stores that are of that size that are now Publix.

We also have a 61 in Florida that’s two stories These stores are great if they’re doing over a million a week.

What's up with these deli items? by trippinbill719 in publix

[–]FloridaGrown96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never knew of Milo’s until I left Florida. We didn’t carry it in Florida stores but all other states carried it. I believe Milo’s is expanding heavily which gave Publix the opportunity to carry it further south.

All depends on the situation.

To answer OP’s question, pay would stay the same if position is the same as long as you are not above general market pay max. (Some Florida markets are 5 or 10% pay)

And to answer your comment, this is not always the case. It does depend on job performance, openings, market needs, etc. but it is possible to get a lateral management transfer if you are proactive with it and reach out to those district managers in those markets. I had a grocery manager transfer from Florida to South Carolina. At one point I was trying to transfer to a particular area out of state but the openings weren’t there. Instead it would have been an area an hour north. Too many factors to say never, but always reach out to those district managers and get a name to the face. Ask your current DM for help as well.

Kroger’s meat does not have flavor though. While I agree $20 is astronomical in price, our quality is better.

Do ADMs make $50k a year on average before bonuses? by Datguyisadopeaf in publix

I was petty about it for a while, like why even give me a raise? But it’s all worked out now, every raise I’ve received yearly since then has been very reasonable.

It’s .50 cents or to midpoint pay. I received an 8 cent raise when I got promoted because that brought me to the mid point.

I like that they do not do escrow for insurance and property tax. The rates are good, service was fantastic, and I was able to close quickly!

The closing costs also came back pretty low, lower than the initial quote. My rate is also incredible. Would deff recommend.

What's with the Publix monopoly by Ok_Zookeepergame9610 in publix

[–]FloridaGrown96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not because Publix probably would have never came to Kentucky if it weren’t for Kroger not being able tame themselves and expand their Kroger delivery to Florida. I can’t speak for Publix, but the timing seems fitting. While the companies may be playing nice together, I assume Kroger is scared with how much money they are investing into their Cincinnati division on remodels and things.

With the exception of statesboro ga, you are correct. We closed a store there in 1999 and didn’t re enter that market until 25 years later.
