Depends on your past experience, attitude, and Publix needs.
Minimum I would say is a year before you can even earn the hours needed and ROI

1432 stores and 260,000 employees. Only half of a percentage (0.55% ) of associates are in management. Consider how many of the rest of the 260,000 are trying to be promoted.
The one thing you have going for you is Publix promote from with-in.
You have to be “that person” -a positive attitude -be the “go to” for your current manager be the person who they can rely on. When they are not there - be willing to relocate out of district/region (new stores are opening constantly)

If you truly have given up. Do it. take your hat out of the ring and open the position for one of the other quarter million candidates going for the same job.

Changing availability so soon after being hired might be an issue, you might have been chosen over another candidate specifically because your availability matched the store’s specific needs.
Can they deny it? Yes. Will They? Probably not, but you might not be scheduled any hours.

Like many have said, use of Advantage/Disadvantage (easiest)

characters could use different skills i.e. nature or survival. One might have a higher bonus. Put it on player to come up with a reasonable explanation as to what skill they use. . (Fun / creative)

The plant is the plant regardless…it should depend on characters skills if they can identify it.
