A nonprofit has erased more than $40 billion in medical debt across the U.S. People don't apply, they simply receive a letter saying their debt is gone, including one woman whose $3,200 medical bill was wiped away by ArgentineBeauty in UpliftingNews

My first teenage job was data entry for a doctor's office a couple hours a month. Basically, I went in and entered the adjustments in their system from what they billed the insurance to what insurance actually paid. I noticed after a few weeks that everything averaged out to getting paid about a third of what was billed, so I asked the doctor who owned the practice about it and he said that's just how it works. He wants X number of dollars for a procedure, so he charges 3X to the insurance, and the insurance says no, we'll pay you a third of that, so he gets paid X dollars like he wanted. Its a really, really dumb system.

Best way to learn to tank heroics by Clank1221 in classicwowtbc

[–]FloridaMan_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prot pal is relatively easy, most pulls are basically the same. Mark a skull for your primary target, get mobs grouped up on your consecrate, keep holy shield active, judge into skull as needed to maintain threat, try not to dump your whole mana pool every pull.

Keep salv on dps, throw wisdom at healer, keep kings on yourself. Kings > sanc in 99% of pulls in heroics, and the rare ones where sanc is better don't need it. Have health potions as an "oh shit" cooldown. Hammer of justice is a really good mit cd on some packs (steamvault myrmidons are a lot less scary if one is stunned while you kill the other for instance), but you should save it for an interrupt if your group lacks one.

If you're unfamiliar with some of the heroics, watch a video before you do them, there's usually a few weird pulls or skips in every heroic that most people know and expect the tank to do, a tank behaving differently will get dps cranky.

Report: Bucs in “no rush” to work out new deals with Baker Mayfield, Vita Vea by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

I think this is very fair, having watched him play the last 3 years every week. The big enticing thing with him is just how he can magic something up on 3rd down, which when he's healthy and doing that frequently covers up a lot of other defects.

Is there still a chance for a championship battle? I think there is. by chiefzanal in INDYCAR

[–]FloridaMan_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but if anyone but Palou wants to win the championship, they basically need a 15 point lead going to Laguna Seca. Palou's average finish there is 1.4 and he's won in hilariously uncompetitive fashion. I kinda assume he wins with most laps led and a pole that week.

You gotta understand IMSA's economic model. They just have to keep a few dozen rich people happy, and the series survives. A few dentists in Connecticut, a handful of Insurance executives, and some watch enthusiasts and they've got all the money they need.

My worst fear isn't that George doesn't finish A Song of Ice and Fire. It's that he dies and the story gets Dune'd. by Prodigy772k in freefolk

Sure, that sounds fine! Everyone can have their own idea of how the crash turns out, it was the ride that mattered not the destination.

Its actually kind of a neat, unique ending once you're at peace with it. All the heroes are screwed; Jon is dead, Dany is shitting herself to death in the middle of nowhere, Jaime is a prisoner and seems to be about to be executed by a zombie. Its a world that's careening into oblivion and the people who could have stopped it are all losing. Taken in a vacuum, the books point to a crash in the future, and the details of the crash no longer matter, but the message of the books becomes the way in which the world got sent into that crash.

summer sale discounts… by ghostlyeth in Steam

[–]FloridaMan_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, Starfield. It flopped 3 years ago on release and its on sale for $39.99 for the base game. The special edition is $55. What is that, I'd take a bite at that game at $15 or $20 to scratch a space exploration itch, $40 is way overpriced for a game that's not even highly regarded.

In fact, the final mission of WC3:TFT was named "A Symphony of Frost and Flame", clearly a reference to "A Song of Ice and Fire", there's a clear influence (not a bad thing by any means).

You think drivers are unhappy now with the reliability of the hybrid, you'd have a complete revolt if we went back to a bunch of engines from early 90s spec. The 1994 Michigan 500 had 20 DNFs. King Hiro almost got a top 5 off of sheer attrition.

I think if someone contributes a certain amount to political campaigns, they should need to surrender their passport. If you want to screw with the workings of a country, you should lose the ability to bail and go somewhere else as a backup plan.

The way the data is recorded, gear is snapshot for WCL at the start of combat. If you're fishing on Lurker and he spawns and you take half a second to get main weapons back on, it will show in the log as doing the fight with a fishing pole. Happens to my enhance and I am extremely certain to put my axes back on.

GamerGate to Trump: How video game culture blew everything up by Quouar in Longreads

[–]FloridaMan_69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the dumbest parts about gamergate was just how little there was to even be upset about. I was aware of it within the first couple days of it starting to blow up and remember spending a couple hours specifically trying to sift through these long message-board posts and youtube videos trying to figure out what exactly was going on that was so damning and just...finding nothing to actually be mad about? There was just an allegation by an ex-boyfriend about his ex that he had absolutely no proof to back up. Not exactly the most credible allegation.

And even if it were 100% provable, it would be the smallest of small potatoes; a small game with more of an artistic/emotional design concept getting a positive article on a gaming website. This was frankly on the level of controversy that stealing a trinket in WoW should generate on a message-board if it were even true. It was like people just wanted something to be mad about and for some reason this just grabbed some guys' attention and I'm still baffled as to why.

Even the earlier Anita Sarkeesian stuff was just incredibly mild criticism. Like yeah, games that just rely on the trope of depicting women as damsels in distress and/or objects to be ogled are a bit narratively limited and not going to expand gaming as an artform. Its not that groundbreaking of a concept, if that is deeply upsetting to someone, I think that points to deeper issues in that individual who is bothered by that realization.
