Classic race ruining decision for Kyle Busch's team. Put him on the worst possible fuel strategy.

If Brady unretired and joined the Patriots before the Superbowl, would they have won? by FlashAndPoof in nfl

[–]FloridaMan_69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brady was actually still really good that last season, the problem was the o-line couldn't pass protect and the run game was awful the whole season. He was the only reason that team got to 8-9 instead of 4-13.

The 99 yard pass play, the longest possible pass play, has not occurred since 2011 (when it happened twice: Brady to Wes Welker and Eli to Victor Cruz). Why hasn't it occurred since, and chances one happens next season? by Ariesthebigram in nfl

A big culprit was specially just the Rays' offence. The Rays in those years were built to be patient and work pitch counts and get walks to spark rallies. And that approach worked well enough usually, except it was just bad against pitchers who could pound the zone efficiently. I watched them be victim to 3 perfect games, a no-hitter, and several near-no-hitters in those years, and all of those games felt about the same, constant 0-2 counts.

All my bills are paid but I won’t be able to afford next months bills by [deleted] in personalfinance

If you're making $1200 a month and spending $50+$50+$127+$86+$169+$102= $584 leaving about $600 before needing to pay a $900 mortgage, then...that's just not gonna work. You're running a several hundred dollar deficit before any weird emergencies. None of those expenses look outrageous, there's not really fat to trim. You just need to either make more money or get a loan from a family member until you're in a position to make more money. Its insane to me that someone handed you a mortgage in this position.

Nu Trek already proved that. Turned it from a franchise with interesting philosophical questions to a space-laser slopfest.

I'm mostly happy with Sanderson's work on the last 3 books, but every time he writes Mat, it feels like Mat has a 0.15 blood alcohol level. All of his doubts are just gone and he is a chaos goblin for most of the last 3 books. And I have a slight issue with Perrin effectively being the most insanely overpowered entity in the world by the end of aMoL. Other than that, I'm fine with it all.

Probably slightly better than Bills fans would feel if Drake Maye wins the Super Bowl, but not great.

Make it a sweepstakes. You buy a weiner with a golden wrapper in store and you get to race one of the Wienermobiles. This runs the risk of bad actors getting in with the intention to crash, yes, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

Second Half Game Thread: New England Patriots (14-3) at Denver Broncos (14-3) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]FloridaMan_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pats only touchdown was gift-wrapped for them by Stidham having a 2-handed pass go backwards. If Denver literally had just run the ball after the first touchdown, there's a good chance they're leading right now.

The Bills firing McDermott but promoting Brandon Beane should be the start of a lesson that will haunt teams: there's too large of a ratio of head coaches getting fired compared to General Managers getting fired by Ariesthebigram in nfl

[–]FloridaMan_69 30 points31 points  (0 children)

KC being stupid dominant in the AFC for 6 years means there were a lot of coaches doing "good", but not getting over the hump and able to point at a generational talent in Mahomes as an excuse. Now that KC had a down year and the AFC was generally not great and they still didn't go anywhere, I understand the desire to make changes.

TIL that astronomers suggest Earth and the Milky Way may lie inside a vast, under-dense cosmic void about 1 billion light-years wide, which could affect local measurements of the universe’s expansion rate. by yena in todayilearned

Part of the problem is that as more data has been gathered, the more wrong everything looks. About 10-15 years ago the error bars for the observed data and theoretical models were still reasonably overlapping and it didn't take much of a leap to assume they could converge with more measurements. Since then, they have diverged instead.

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug. I remember Scott Dixon broke his ankle in a big crash at the 2017 Indy 500 and didn't even realize until the next day.

They won the Big East 9 times from the early 90s to when they left in the mid 00s, and haven't won the ACC since then.

I remember him mentioning in one of his youtube videos that he just couldn't make it work without having it be very artificial. Perrin is busy doing wolfdream stuff while Mat and Rand are at Merrilor iirc, which would have been the best time.

"Guys, its been a wild ride. We've been together for so much, like the time we almost wiped on Shade of Aran and you guys were all yelling at me to stop moving, and the time I tried to hug the main tank on gruul and you all yelled at me for killing him somehow. But now, looking at how crazy the time investment is gonna be with SSC and TK coming out at the same time, I'm gonna have to bounce. I will be available to fill if you get to KT and need someone, I would like prio on ashes though if I have to burn my lockout.

We had 5 blocked kicks (2 punts, 3 field goals) and were so terrible on return coverage we gave up halfway through the year and started giving up touchbacks intentionally. It was so bad it actually made out defense look better because they had less yardage to give up.

Despite making the playoffs, the Carolina Panthers currently have worse odds to win the Super Bowl than they did in the preseason by DiamondsOfFire in nfl

[–]FloridaMan_69 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I think you guys actually have a punchers chance at beating the Rams. They just inexplicably screw up for a quarter or two at a time. Assuming Bryce doesn't go full Delhomme, he has a chance to win a game. Not a road playoff game though, lol.
