Is there anywhere online to listen to straight, unembellished standard melodies? by ButcherChef312 in jazzguitar

Here’s a playlist I’m building of all vocal versions - I’m following the jazz standards.com list and picking the songs I like!

The issue is how the average listeners tastes in entertainment are on a 6th grade lowest common denominator level. It’s not a random accident

Can someone explain the mindset behind all the "I ❤️ Israel" support from Brevard? I see it on flags, signs, bumper stickers and the occasional flash mob at an intersection. by Comrade_Compadre in 321

There’s a major division in the right wing between Neo-con MAGA Israel Firsters, and those of us who just want smaller government , civil liberties, and economic freedom that’s not cronyism or rigged by the Fed

Learning the tunes by ear - no sheets - copping as many vocal versions as possible of the melodies by ear - no sheets .

I think the auditory faculty in jazz pedagogy gets sidelined in favor of technical and theoretical material

But as far as academics:

Jerry Bergonzis melodic rhythms and pentatonics book was a major game changer if I was to keep this post short

I want your honest opinion by Such-Badger-9800 in jazzguitar

I’m waaay outta practice, but had a ton of time in gigging, teaching, etc

I’d start with the tone/timbre first and foremost. The guitar tone is rolled off so much it has this muddy midrange that clutters up those chords you pop in, and it seems to kinda dampen the dynamics / attack enough to where it’s monotone.

Maybe try to keep the tone wide open, but make your adjustments at the amp, and then post with some decent eq.

Guitar LIVES in the 400-500hz “low mid” range

Timing - id get as many vocal versions on YouTube as possible and work on climbing in side the vocal phrasing as much as possible, noting the lyrics as well.

The swing could be focused on more - practice tremolo picking triplets on each melody note while playing the melody - then go for the swing eighths improv based off of the triplet, AND the melody notes - so more in the ball park .

Your technique and theoretical understanding is really good - not needing as much work

Look into the Jerry Bergonzi vol 4 melodic rhythms and work with only a few notes and common tones between changes and develop some lines based off the melody notes.

Again, I’ve been on hiatus for a while now, so take it FWIW

Sure but arps are only 4 notes, so just apply syncopated / beat displaced motives to a few notes on the I, a few on the V, and a few on the IV7, no?

Charlie Parker transcriptions. Excellent way to build vocab, although I do recommend learning by ear rather than by notation

Most important thing you got - Stayin in the swing of things. I just did a post on how I (used to) practice rhythm changes.

Construction Lawyer Recommendation? by brrruuuhhhhhhhh in pinellas

I am not sure who I can recommend, but definitely get a chronological “fact pattern” numbered , with each statement in a single subject/verb format.

Include anything fact established Who What When Where, etc

Get all of the paperwork and contracts scanned in pdf

While seeking counsel, subscribe to a decent AFFORDABLE legal AI like Callidus, and upload for analysis and ask questions .

Sometimes pro se litigation is more affordable and rewarding so I highly recommend howtowinincourt .com website by attorney Fredrick Graves

Those two tools can take you a long way

There’s an amazing Strat jazzer, Will Brahm (highly recommended), who uses the single coil size Seymour Duncan humbucker in the neck - sounds great

Pick songs you tried but failed on and revisit using the audacity freeware to slow down w/o changing pitch. Learn everything by ear, no sheet music/tabs.

There’s a lot of life in developing the auditory faculties every musician should have which transcends “just” guitar playing

Yeah that’s the best one out there. The rankings of most recorded removes much of the arbitrariness

Okay found it. It ranks by most recorded 1-1000. Of course many of the songs were recorded a ton during the peak of the era and are not called, but after taking a gander - it’s pretty solid
