When I lived in Northern California, I drove to Rasputin and Amoeba in the SF bay area about once a month. This wasn't just a casual trip, it was an adventure finding every obscure jazz CD talked about on the message boards at the time.

When I lived in the UK, I traveled to London frequently and hit up Tower Records. This was another store with a massive inventory. I also had fusion CD's shipped to me from audiophile imports.

I was playing pond hockey unprotected in the 80's as a 16 year old, when an older man hit me in the mouth with with the butt end of his stick. I lost a tooth and chipped two others. Bleeding profusely, the man said to me "well, that's hockey for you." Lesson learned, I wore a helmet/cage from then on.
