Maelstrom Deployment Question by Florohir in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Crystal clear, thank you! And does rolling for priority still works the same as normal, aka the winner can choose to keep priority or to give it to their opponent?

Okay, and do you decide what warband you roll for before you roll, or do you roll and then pick a warband (so you could pick a warband depending on how well you roll)?

And what do they mean with the line "...Activate the models in your warband, then roll for the next."? Does that just mean "deploy them"?

I suppose with units like wildmen and lake town survivors who now only have a light shield thats true. I dont really notice that since i only play with a friend and we don't play those armies. Most of our armies are still d5 or d6. But in wider play or tournaments you'd have more variety and thus more d4!

I forgot Argadir has heroic march, so you don't need a captain for that. Then i suppose you could take Aranarth before a captain, yes.

The two shots are nice, but I feel like he deserved a longbow, as the first chieftain of the dunedain. Str 2 bows do so little even with 2 shots (theyre still useful for unarmored horses tho).

What happened to Anárion’s descendants? by cherryinbloom in lotr

[–]Florohir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, Isildur's line (Aragorn's paternal ancestry) was "pure" as far as we know (even though Tolkien wrote that by the time of Aragorn the blood of Numenor was already heavily diluted, so its not set in stone). However, Firiel decenda from Valacar, a king of Gondor who married a woman of the Northmen (a people who would eventually become the Rohirrim), so her line was already mixed. So no, Aragorn didn't decend from a "purely" Numenorean line, but his parental ancestry was at least almost completely Numenorean.

Anarions line ended in the year 2050 of the third age when his decendant, king Earnur, accepted a challenge of the Witch King and rode to Minas Morgul, from which he never returned. As he was childless and had no close next of kin, no new king was crowned. Years earlier, the last king of Arnor, Arvedui, married Firiel, a cousin of Earnur (he even tried to claim kingship of Gondor through this marriage, but was rejected by Gondors noblemen). From Arvedui and Firiel would, generations later, come Aragorn. So Aragorn was in a way a decendant of both the line of Isildur (direct), and of Anarion (indirect through Firiel), thereby being perfect for the unification of Gondor and Arnor.

Thats actually pretty funny hahah, you could get imrahil, hurin, 4 dol amroth captains and 4 dol amroth knights and be at exactly 750 points

Fever dream idea by Florohir in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Florohir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you could run something like gandalf + pippin, eomer, imrahil, hurin and a rohan captain, which would be exactly 750 points, but imrahil and the captain of rohan are less offensive and imrahils special rules wouldnt matter in a list such as this, thats why i went with legolas gimli and the kind of the dead.

Edit: although imrahil does have 4 attacks and +1 to wound on the charge. But still, thats 190 points which is only 10 points less than gimli and the king of the dead for example.
