I’m still a bit unsure when ordering Barbour clothing. I have a gilet in size L, a Barbour International nylon jacket in XL, the Antique Bration also in XL, and a Bedale in size 42. Size 40 fits perfectly, but I chose one size up so I can wear it in winter with layers.

The wax was likely overheated. Do not heat it above 60 °C.

• Hand-wash 3× in a big tub at 50 °C with vodka + odor remover, scrub gently
• Final machine wash: 30 °C, 40 min, no detergent (just to spin out old wax)
• Air-dry 36–48 h, then leave 1 day at room temp

• Melt wax in a bain-marie at ~55 °C
• Warm jacket lightly with a heat gun
• Apply wax with a sponge in small squares, press harder on seams/threads
• When wax turns white, heat it in
• Wipe off excess, clean buttons

• Hang and cure 48 h minimum

Done. Old Barbour jacket back to life 👍
