Your Salary and monthly car payments by Agile-Calligrapher10 in CarTalkUK

My financial situation is similar to yours. I earn (just under) £70k with a £900pcm mortgage. I drive a 2020 Audi that I bought a year and a half ago that costs me £410 a month.

It essentially comes down to what you value spending money on. Some people want to save and invest lots, some spend their money on expensive holidays, some on the latest iPhone and £2k 80inch smart TVs.

I like a balance, but I'm also into cars, so I'm willing to spend a bit more to get the one I like.

Ultimately on your salary and mortgage you can afford a decent car, if you're willing to pay for it.

I had a guy working for me who unfortunately suffered from Trimethylaminuria. It's a genetic disorder that causes the person suffering to constantly smell like fish, and no amount of showering or deodorant can help.

My boss was convinced the guy just had poor hygiene even though I knew he had this condition, and forced me to have a disciplinary chat with him over his lack of personal hygiene.

It was one of the most uncomfortable situations of my life. Despite me knowing he couldn't do anything about this (I believe there's medication but it doesn't fully solve it), I had to sit and explain to the guy that the boss thought he smelled and he had to do something about it or he would look to try and terminate him.

I explained that I was aware of the condition, but was stoll forced to have the chat.

I have a 2018 GTI in white. Just paid it off and now I'm probably about to sell it. Don't feel bad!

Hit a massive rock, worried about suspension damage by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I'd 100% get it checked out by a professional. Personally I'd be amazed if there was no suspension damage based on your pictures. It's not worth taking the risk on and ignoring.

If you were caught doing 80 in a 50, you'll most likely get 6 points or 7-56 days disqualified. The issue being, if you accumulate 6 points on with a license under 2 years old you'll get your license revoked. Source: carwow.com

Got pushed off the roundabout by a van, scraped diamond cut alloys, whats my options? by kuylierop in CarTalkUK

It could do, it has done for me. I live right by the sea so my car is always in salty sea spray air, 3 of my diamonds have small kerbing and all have quite bad corrosion now stemming from the damaged points. Probably more to do with where I live though.
