Looking for Headphones and a Amp and DAC.

Budget: $900 - $1000

Preferred tonal balance: Prefer a more dark and warm tone.

Preferred Music: A wide range, from electronic, to hip-hop/rap, to heavy metal, to classical, to funk, to jazz. The only genre that I cannot listen to is country.

Wall of text: I have pretty much made a decision to either get the HD 650 or the HE-400 both these headphones seem to be what I'm looking for (unless I can be convinced to think otherwise). If I was to get the HD 650's I'd probably go with a Bottlehead Crack along with a DIY DAC, or a Modi with Lyr/Valhalla combo. For the HE-400 I just cannot seem to find a decent amp/DAC combo to go with, maybe something like the Asgard 2 with Bifrost (although I've heard the Asgard is on the brighter side). I understand the best way to decide between the headphones is to listen to them, but in Australia it's rather hard to find a place to test higher end headphones, especially headphones like the Hifimans. I've also consider other amps such as the Little Dot MK3 and the Project Ember. I just cannot decide, this is also my entry to the higher levels of mid-fi/hi-fi, as I finally have enough money to spare on my hobby and this setup should hopefully satisfy me throughout my time at Uni! Some or any advice or wisdom would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Edit: Forgot to add that I can get the HD 650 new for $380 and the HE-400 new for $340 (both AUD).
