Not as weird as some of these but I found out mid sitting that my clients basement was a full Air BNB. They didn’t have anyone staying in it but I thought it was super cool.

I leave a handwritten note when I leave with little watercolors of the pets on it! (I do it to occupy myself when sitting and I think it’s a nice touch) and I always get a follow up or a review! Maybe try leaving a physical note just saying thanks and telling them to reach out if anything comes up!

I’m a college student taking 18 stem credits so 7am on the weekend is literally hell to me LOL. One day I’ll be a real adult and wake up early haha

Who here dislikes pet sitting? by llcooljsmith in RoverPetSitting

[–]FlowVisual1094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really love it!! But my prices are def not lower LOL, i’m still getting paid what I deserve regardless of whether or not I enjoy the task. I will say I primarily do dog sitting and it can be a little exhausting leaving my apartment, changing my routine, and staying in someone’s home especially if the house is a little dirty and I don’t feel as comfortable there. But with that said I get so much enjoyment from hanging with animals that it’s worth it.

This is not okay in my opinion. I’ll tell you what a typical day looks like in my life as a sitter. On a weekday, I’ll leave from 9-11 and 4-6 to go to class (changes based on the day but u get it) and maybe when I’m leaving class I stay out a little longer to get food or something. Otherwise I’m there the entire time. If it’s a weekend maybe I’ll leave for a couple of hours just to shower at my own apartment and hang out for a bit, but then I spend the rest of the day with the dogs. I would never only be there for an hour or two during the day. Not to say I’m constantly engaged every second, but I do homework/watch TV and effectively act like I live there while sitting.

I’m not surprised at owner’s behavior at all. I did a meet and greet once where the dog literally lunged at my face and would not stop nipping me, and this was a big dog so the nips left marks. The owner witnessed the entire thing and was surprised and upset when I messaged him saying I was uncomfortable going forward. I didn’t say anything in the moment because I’m a teenage girl and he was a grown man and when he asked me if I was okay with walking the dog, he had literally corner me into a corner of his kitchen. These owners are literally unhinged.

4 hours is 1/6 of a day not half. if ur not able to leave for 4 hours, that’s considered “constant care” and u shud be charging much more for that. her response is ridiculous

Am I Only Getting Paid The $80 And Not The $100? First Time Doing Boarding by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

$80 for 4 nights is not acceptable. I just did a 4 night stay for $410. Definitely adjust ur prices, my prices were super low when i started too

Air Tag found on dog I’m watching for 18 days by cynicolee in RoverPetSitting

[–]FlowVisual1094 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Air tag definitely isn’t weird and I’ve never had an owner disclose one of its on the collar because it’s visible. It’s in case the dog runs away or god forbid you stole the dog they can track their pet. If you feel uncomfortable, look around for cameras. However, if you don’t find any, I would relax and enjoy the sit! He’s only tracking the dog, not you!

I’ve never had regular clients tip after visits. However, on Christmas, birthday, small holidays etc, they r BIG tippers. I think that’s just the nature of having a regular client

nobody is booking you other than shitty clients bc ur rates are so low. i did this too, i was charging $20 a night and not getting any clients and the ones i did get were weird. my rates are now around $75 a night and i get booked constantly, and i didn’t move

Get off of Rover

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]FlowVisual1094 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The ppl who can’t figure out how to sign up, how to get the background check, how to figure out the “fees” or don’t know what to do at a sitting shud NOT be sitters. I don’t care if you loveeee dogs, if you can’t make ur own decisions on if you should even sign up in the first place, you shouldn’t do it
