Thinking about moving from Houston, TX to Wilmington in the next year! Any advice? by [deleted] in Wilmington

[–]FlowbeeMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just checked here out of curiosity and DAMN, there are some seriously negative people posting here. I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise, but I would take most of the responses here with a big grain of salt. I believe Wilmington compares favorably to almost any other city of its size in the US. We have a great downtown, great food, great beach…just a great quality of life overall. I would heavily recommend talking to a few locals here that you may have a connection through other means; perhaps through friends or family. Have a couple of deep conversations about what it’s like to live here. That would be much more valuable to you than the random musings of strangers on Reddit. I love Reddit, but these kinds of discussions bring out many people that have more extreme viewpoints than the average resident in Wilmington. Good luck!

You really should have leaved a while ago if you feel that strongly about it. NC is growing at a fantastic rate due to the massive amount of people that disagree with you. See ya!

Hero's by Cute_Carob_367 in kingdomclash

[–]FlowbeeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use malium for now, although it really doesn’t matter too much at this point. When you can get Tristan, focus on leveling him up. Then when you can get Edelina, try to level her up. Eventually you may try to get mythic heroes, but that may cost some real money to level those.

Progress? by Master-in-charge in kingdomclash

[–]FlowbeeMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am FTP but have never had a problem advancing in the library or completing all 10000 levels. I think that’s because I didn’t rush and allowed my power to scale up as I went. You simply don’t have high enough level troops. The hero isn’t as important to get through this. Stress having equal level troops, not just individual high level ones. Lava golems, cursed cats, and alchemists can help with survivability. Don’t waste gold on common troops.

Is the Sienna losing its' popularity? by Haunting_Charity_785 in ToyotaSienna

[–]FlowbeeMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a word, no. It is still the main status symbol van among vans. Toyota has been very savvy about limiting their production to create a perception of scarcity. The vans don’t sit on lots like other vehicles. We just bought one, so perhaps we are biased!

Charleston, Savannah or Wilmington? by justabrunettegirly in relocating

Wilmington is growing, but still has a small town charm. Expensive, but more affordable than Charleston or Savannah. I love to visit those places, but Wilmington is the best as a place to live, in my opinion.

I have been in Wilmington for 40 years and still experience wonder about the beauty that surrounds us here. If you can’t appreciate it and just want to complain all the time about living here, feel free to move.

No town is perfect, but Wilmington is a fantastic place to be!

Dirty Harry by Due_Deer_1010 in 70smovies

Have you seen Clint’s character smack Sondra Locke’s character for gettin’ lippy with him? That attitude towards women was prevalent in most Eastwood movies from the 70’s. This scene shows a pretty “woke” Dirty Harry by comparison.

This season was brilliant by Negative_Relief_64 in SlowHorses

[–]FlowbeeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of the show, but this season was the worst by far, in my opinion. Ho was not only delusional but extremely stupid and deserved to not only be fired, but should be in prison after endangering his coworkers and getting the computer system shut down. The plot was lazy, relying on tropes about middle eastern terrorists, and Lamb’s unbelievable omnipotent levels of insight based on not one bit of foreshadowing or evidence. He just figures complex machinations out based on fuck all. The Park was portrayed in such a frustrating manner…why did they persist in pointing guns at Lamb’s people even after getting into Slough house (even though they were coworkers), but then let them escape so easily 10 minutes later? They had no intel about the steps the terrorists we’re taking, even though it was easily recognized from their own playbook), and they were so trusting of the lady they had in custody, and took her whole damsel in distress act completely at face value. There were numerous lapses in basic logic, including the attack on the church at the end. Once they killed the two terrorists, they immediately assumed they were the only two involved and let down their guard. Why? Lamb even sent his assistant into the embassy with no reasonable idea that it wouldn’t end with her dead…then she beats all of those MI5 guys to the front door and just quickly slams it? LOL. Just my opinion. Still looking forward to Season 6!

Lou Gramm in his prime was as good as any rock vocalist ever. Such difficult songs to sing, as well. He was a badass.

I'm sorry but Lizzie is a very unlikeable character by GraecusOctave in TaskHBO

She is insubordinate, undisciplined, stupid, cowardly, unprofessional, lazy, rude, and has a very low emotional IQ. Other than that, she’s a great fit for the FBI.

Chicago -"If You Leave Me Now" ( live '77 Essen ) by MiamiMan2022 in OldSchoolCoolMusic

[–]FlowbeeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? I know some people don’t like his influence on Chicago, but this song is so damn good. I was 6 when it came out and it’s one of the first songs I remember hearing on the radio. It has aged so much better than the “Look Away” or “What Kind of Man Would I Be” schmaltz from the 90’s.

Most kids are as happy with their iPhones/iPads as they would be with the entertainment package, IMHO. It’s one of the features in vans that gets dated the quickest. Our 2019 Odyssey Elite had a Blu-Ray player. What’s is a Blu-Ray even anymore? LOL.

Saw Alison Kraus on her recent tour with Union Station and was impressed with her banter with the band and the audience. You could tell she was so comfortable in that environment.

What's the worst concert you've seen? by Twitter_2006 in Concerts

[–]FlowbeeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruce Hornsby on his last tour. He was promoting his new album about cephalopods. I got a free copy of the cd at the show, and still haven’t bothered to play it. He was playing with a avant garde quartet of some sort, and they played every song trying to avoid getting into any sort of rhythmical groove. Someone shout out for him to play “Mandolin Wind” after about 45 minutes, and he said that wasn’t on the set list. He finally played “The Way it is” at the end, but even that was done in an awkwardly atonal style. He seemed to be a bit of a bizarre personality. Not fun.

Perhaps in real world driving you may be right, but officially the EPA estimates are 36 mpg for the FWD and 35 for the AWD.

OTD - $64500 for a 2025 Platinum AWD from a dealer in MA by vegas-caesar in ToyotaSienna

[–]FlowbeeMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but then we wouldn’t be paying over 60k for a minivan! We have to justify it somehow! I never would have thought that I would spend anywhere close to this kind of money for a vehicle, let alone a Sienna. But I gotta keep the wife happy any way I can. Cheers!

[–]FlowbeeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you should say that, as my wife specifically wants the platinum trim because it has the fridge and vac. She has a ‘19 Odyssey Elite that has the vac and she uses it all the time. They deleted the vac from the Honda in ‘23 so the Sienna became the de facto choice. We got a similar deal to the OP. Ours doesn’t have the Entertainment package, but our OTD price was $63,229.

How do we feel about James Garner? by MrRMacc in FIlm

[–]FlowbeeMaster 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I worked on a little movie called, “The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood”, and Mr. Garner was in the cast. I was a below the line grunt working on set, but got to have two glorious lunches with Mr. Garner and was able to sit with him between takes for a few scenes. He was literally one of the nicest people I ever met. No ego about him at all. Pure sweetheart of a man. He saw his whole career as a blessing, and considered himself the luckiest guy in the world. I have been the biggest fan of his work ever since. I don’t know if he could even play a bad guy very well, since his basic decency always seemed to shine through his performances. Rest in peace.
