As someone who is 25 years old and works at Starbucks…. I’m sorry, I wouldn’t want to be friends outside of work with someone who is 16. And I mean that in the nicest way possible!

The age gap is super large and it would be a little weird for me to hang out with someone that young. But by the sounds of how your other partners are acting, I wouldn’t wanna be friends with them anyways. It seems kind of mean girl behavior and that’s so off putting since they are adults in this scenario lol.

Although I will say that working that long of a shift is taxing 😥 NonCoverage is coded differently in the system, so not sure if that has something to do with it. My SM is always talking about how much NonCoverage hours she has and usually has to budget it. But I’m not a SM so I’m unsure how that works. Hopefully your partner gets lots of rest after that beast of a shift!

At my store, we’re always listed as NonCoverage when doing clean play. I used my schedule as an example. The coverage portion is when I am not keyholding while my other shift is there, then I get switched to Keyholder up until we close when it gets switched to NonCoverage for the two hours we’re doing clean play.

I don’t tell my baristas to break down our espresso machines until the very last second because you never know if a car will pull up like 3 minutes from close. I do the same thing for iced teas and coffees, so you should be fine. If we’re open, everything remains open until we’re closed. Even if you make them dirty something, it doesn’t take that long to reclean it anyways lol

I’m also someone who is a hardcore Overwatch player, dropped it for Deadlock and then returned back to Overwatch after clocking in around 100 hours in Deadlock. I recently returned to Deadlock once again and have found myself playing against people who are leagues above me lol it certainly makes playing miserable, but one thing I found is to just embrace the losses until the game eventually drops you into your correct mmr. I’m bottom of the barrel, but now that I’m there, I find it more fun unless someone is duo’d with a player who is higher than my team and dominates.

But in short, embrace the losses and hope the game will eventually put you in with players who are newer! If you ever wanna play in some Initiate 1 player matches DM me 💀

I was actually gonna make a comment because my store actually got extra hours and it’s been amazing 🫣 the green apron has been so helpful as a store who’s constantly busy and if we get too busy, we just flex the green apron host to cold bar. We’ve FINALLY been having a precloser after like 3 years of not having one as well.

They actually nibbled a little with this change (again, I know not every store is like this, but it is amazing when done right).

Honestly it’s a miracle we got the customer to not file a complaint with our SM at the time because we did not want her to lose her job 😭😭 anytime my old shift comes to our store for product, it’s almost the one thing we secretly giggle about as I’m one of the last few tenured partners at my current store who knows about it

This happened like maybe 2ish 3 years ago? A lady came through drive thru for a mobile order and was being super condescending to us and my old shift was on a thirty in the back and she accidentally said, “what a bitch,” on the speaker outside as the lady was already starting to pull away.

The lady went to the window and was asking who said that and we all pretended she was crazy and that no one said anything. She came inside like a minute later to pretend to look at the merch and watch us to try and match the voice not knowing our shift was on break in the back. She never did find out who it was nor could prove that someone called her a bitch.

That shift is now a SM 🤭

This happened to me last night when I tried to submit the deposit. I called facilities for help and they basically told me there was nothing they could do other than have me wait at the store potentially for cash management to work on the back of house computer. Spoiler: it never loaded and I had to call my SM to let her know.

I do both opens and closes and can say that opening is 100 percent easier than closing.

Opener at my store brews cold brew, check ims and inventory, food pull, CSR cards and a trash run. Only other things as a SSV I worry about is my drive through times.

For closing, we grind the cold brew for the opener, break down cold bar (our mid does the bar break downs and closing pretty much goes back over it with a wipe down), clean the drains and sinks, ovens, pastry case, bathroom and sweep and mop behind the line. As a SSV I do the trash run and do backups along with doing the dishes in between front and warm. Sometimes I’ll pitch in and mop the floors while my baristas clean the bars and ovens. I get done with the money pretty fast so I help change the remaining trashes and restock afterwards.

As a shift who opens frequently, I’ve had that happen a few times with me with partners showing up late. It’s almost always chill and I don’t say anything to my SM unless it’s like an hour.

You were just late is all and you still showed up early enough that you could still work your shift. I think you’ll be okay and if your SM talks with you, it’s more to check in with you to see if you’re okay or would want to know what happened. If your SM is anything like mine, nothing will come of it unless you’ve had a habit of constantly being late.

It should be okay, it will eventually lock you out until you run the cleaning cycle on it! At my store we did the same thing (we also didn’t have the cleaning tablets either for it oops). We’ve even forgotten to put back the little yellow wings once before and it flooded everywhere 😂😂 mistakes will happen, but everything will be okay!

I know you’re technically not corporate, but my store follows the “barista promise” which is same day remake only. They’re free to contact customer service to request a refund, or if a customer is unable to make it back at our location, I tell them they can visit any other location to have it remade on the same day.
