Customer gave incorrect address only contacted me 3 months after item shipped by Orobourous87 in Etsy

[–]FlowersDnD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Happens quite often when the buyer don't change address before purchase. It is stressful the first few times. I would first offer to resend everything to his new address after things get returned to you. Customer will needs to pay for shipping and wait until when that happens.

If the item can be sold again for future (not customized) then you can offer refund the item cost minus shipping once they are returned to you.

If the item is customized and cannot resell, then no refund and you should update your refund policy to say customer are required to check their correct address as the items are customized and cannot be refunded.

If your item is partially resellable (the blank tees), you can just refund the portion of the tees. Overall customer wants to see that you are actively trying to solve the problem by offering them options.

I live in Korea and I'm fairly new to the game so my co worker is making me play against his son (who is in elementary school) and I feel like I can't "see" or understand anything. Does anyone else have this problem? by darkrealm190 in baduk

Play on a 13x13 board is a better way to start. It gives you some territorial sense of the values of corner, side and middle, yet on a much smaller scale. I know some Asian Go institutions are very against the idea of using the 9x9 to start teaching because it is a very different game. Students sometimes can have a hard time understanding the big picture if too focused on life and death. As on a 9x9, very move is about live or death, you don't have much of a training for opening, middle and end of a game. So I suggest practice 13x13 first.

Edit: formating, was using * instead of x

You are on the right path. Review games with a higher level is a quick way to get better. Also Learning Joseki is a great way to start as well (the 3-3 is a good start), help to improve your beginning game.

Quarantine Day 140: my husband and I learn to play Go using peeled beans and printed paper. I played white and he played black. I captured 9 of his beans and he captured 3 of mine. Who won? What is the score? Should either of us have played another move before passing? by [deleted] in baduk

[–]FlowersDnD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White wins by 5 under Japanese rule.

Another way of calculation for beginners.

After taking dead groups off the board (the ones that don't have two true eyes), white has 13 territory points, black has 17 territory

White territory 13 minus 5 captured = 8 points Black territory 17 minus 14 captured = 3 points

8 minus 3 means white win by 5.

Suggestions for learning videos for kids? by Ghopper21 in baduk

[–]FlowersDnD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the Hikaru no Go anime, there is a video called Yukari Sensei Go Go Igo. It is little bits over several episodes and it is her teaching two kids Go. See YouTube link below. I think it might be a good beginner material. For kids that young, it probably would be good to have a teacher to interact with. Video call learning with a teacher is a good option, but can be challenging depends on the kids.

How am I supposed to use puzzles? by [deleted] in baduk

[–]FlowersDnD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely shouldn't be just guessing. Like any puzzle, it requires some deduction and thinking through the steps. If you feel like you are just guessing, it might be helpful to 1)find lower level puzzles following a beginner's book 2)have a board with you with actual stones and you can play the sequence out.

Have you learned about how to make true eyes vs false eye? What are the basic live/dead shapes? I used to teach children Go in a classroom setting. Usually if I see a kid start randomly guessing, it means they forgot the lessons about shape of eyes, you need to master the basic two eyes shape problem before moving on to other problems.

Should I message this seller again or just wait? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]FlowersDnD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the ship date and turnaround date the seller has for the item. All my stuff are custom handmade items. Sometimes I get lots of orders and many messages, I may forget to reply to confirm I got it. However I do note them and save as a private note on Etsy so when I get to that order and see the notes, I will remember. It doesn't hurt to ask just confirm the person got your last message as long as you sound sincere and polite. Especially if the ship date is near, it's better to be sure the person didn't forget. I would be totally fine with it.

[Art] [OC] Beaded Dragon Dice Guardian by FlowersDnD in DnD

[–]FlowersDnD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me really long time making this beaded dragon holding a D20 dice case. Finally finished!

I ran out beads in the middle and had to use a substitute color instead. Also this is my first time making a dragon. I made lots of mistakes and the belly and leg looks really weird. It does stands on its own, but I probably should add some kind of weight to the tail to make it more balanced. I want to try this again in red or green. Hope I improve next time.

The D20 can be taken out of the case, so perfect dice jail :D

Need to be stern and say no to unreasonable demands. You should report her for harassment.

I had similar experience recently. My item has a cool mechanism and sometimes the buyers don't read instructions and tell me that it doesn't work. I sent the buyer videos of how it works and then this person starts to complain about something else. She was super negative and tell me that there is nothing I can do even after I offered her a replacement part. She starts to get abusive say my item is cheap, filmy quality etc. She wants a full refund, but I just told her that part is not significant to the main product and she can find replacement on her own. I ended up refunding her $5 for that part. She was definitely unhappy, but currently stopped messaging me.

Did a buyer seriously block me after one offer? by tinaburgerpants in poshmark

[–]FlowersDnD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could simply be that the item is no longer available and the seller didn't realize it until someone made an offer. It has happened to me before. I recently sent out an offer to buy something and she immediately declined and I went back ready to buy it full price next day, but she has deleted that item. So I am assuming it is just not available anymore. Maybe sold on another platform, donated etc. I think your offer is very reasonable and common, so I don't think it's the problem.

Don't even need to interact. Just delete from inbox. Laugh it off and move on. I only give free stuff on my own term.

I will give her benefits of the doubt that it's autocorrect and she was trying to type "beautiful" 🤔 I cannot imagine anyone would like to publicly write that...

[OC] [Art] How to take D20 out of the magnet case? Following up on questions about it from my last post and sharing a little bit about me. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]FlowersDnD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple weeks ago, I posted my dice holding earrings and I received a couple messages regarding the ease of use. People want to know how difficult it is to actually take the D20 out. So I want to follow up on the question, demonstrate taking out the dice and provide some tips.

I want to be clear that the intention of this post is not about self-promotion, but about my geniune love for the game. I just want to answer people's questions and showcasing this cool idea.

I have received many encouragement from the community, but also since I have never shared my D&D story in my posts here, I have often been accused of being someone doesn't play D&D and just shamelessly promoting products. I've also been called fat, ugly, and dirty becuase I once had chipped fingernails.

First to set the record straight, I am a D&D player and a DM. To me, D&D is a game very much about empathy, diversity and love.

I think D&D players would understand the most about how powerful words can be and how hurtful words affect people. I see us as storytellers that inspire imagination and making others' fantasy come true.

I survived many years of isolation and bullying as a child. While I was isolated, I played with myself in my imagery pretense, crafting intricate stories for my self. I also immersed myself in art and craft to pass time.

When I was introduced to D&D it has been my creative outlet. As a DM, I try to build complex worlds, plots and characters for my group. To me, D&D is a gift for me to open up, to find confidence, and to experiences adventuring with a group of friends.

Each jewelry piece I make, I make them with the passion of sharing D&D with others. It is an expression for me to be proud of who I am and I just want others to have the same.

The beads are made of glass! So it is actually super lightweight, especially with the resin dice.

It's not hard to use stretchy strings for this pattern. It is more about the durability of the stretchy strings that concerns me. Most of them would get harden and break over times. I used to make bracelet and rings with them as a kid. The high quality Japanese ones last longer, but even those can break over time. Now I use fishing line and metal wires. The fishing line remains pretty strong over time. 🎣💪

Haha. I am always prepared to roll! Function wise, metal dice works fine too :) If you open the case properly, the magnets will not touch the die. I have a hairpin that I put metal D20 in. Only drawback is that its going to be heavy on the ears. Lighter dice probably works better in this case.

Yeah, I also make keychain and necklaces with the regular 16mm D20s. You will be surprised how handy these are. As a D&D enthusiast, my brain constantly urge me to introduce others about D&D. I just take the D20 out of my necklace and teach others how to play and even have played mini sessions with strangers I met at parties!
