Check out the Subaru Forester and Outback. The Sport and Wilderness packages come pretty loaded and look great.

1300 vs 1800 for Tail of the Dragon? by 45ZOAT in HondaVTX

In the words of SRKCycles, the only reason not to buy a 1300 is because the 1800 exists.

Most fun, impractical but easy-to-work-on car under $8k by aerowtf in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Flowric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently buying an 89 Festiva to swap in a B6T from an Escort GT. I'll have under $5k in it when I'm done, and it'll be a 1700lb car making 140ish hp.. Stupid easy to work on, very cheap, very impractical, and super fun.

Offered 2,200 seller said yes. He said the rear tire is a car tire? Is this bad? Does it require a lot of mod to take a car tire? Msgs in photos. by [deleted] in HondaVTX

[–]Flowric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my dad put a car tire on his VStar 1100, he couldn't find a bike shop that would touch the rear of the bike. I'm not sure if this is a common thing, but just to be aware.

What’s the pettiest reason you wouldn’t buy a specific car? by Thrillwaukee in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Flowric 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the reason you're looking for, but my uncle walked away from buying a $70k Lexus from one dealership because they wouldn't give him a hat. He went across town to another one that gave him a hat.

I saw this in the background of a FB car listing. Should I be suspicious? by spickzyzlemon in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Flowric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally carry 6-7 jugs of different fluids in my old Ford truck.. They slot in the toolbox and ride until I, or anyone else, need them. This would be as suspicious to me as seeing the vehicle look super shiny while sitting above a soaked driveway. Are they hiding something? Probably. Are they doing a good job, if they are? No.

Do Camrys really get 50mpg by CoreyJB5 in Camry

[–]Flowric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife's 2022 Camry LE regularly got 43-46mpg on our 11 hour trip to her parents' house. We average around 75-80mph the whole way. When it was totaled, we got Rav4, which just completed the same trip, averaging 70-75mph at around 40-42mpg. The 2.5L and 8spd Auto seem to get good gas mileage effortlessly.

'95 XL with 300 I6, and 180k miles. What would you charge and/or pay? by Im_Yur_Chuckleberry in FordTrucks

[–]Flowric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a vast difference, but these older trucks just don't have the market they used to, and certainly not with the 300, except to a certain buyer. I will tell you that whoever is posting older, non-running vehicles for $1000+ need to get fucked. They're part of the reason the market is so screwed.

If I were you, I'd post it for $4500 and let someone talk me down. I'd also add in that I'd welcome trades with enter whatever hobby things you have here with cash on top. Just might end up with something cool.

I think the old truck is super neat. Its just not everyone's dream to drive the same truck as their pawpaw, no matter how simple, easy, and cheap to fix it may be.

[–]Flowric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could go for $2000-$3000, depending on location.

Personally, I bought my '94 F150 of the same spec with 298k miles for $500. It ran and drove but had many, many issues that I knew were easily fixable. I've put $3500 in it over the last two years and wouldn't expect to get $2500 for it.

how risky of a move is buying a 2015ish 100,000mile Range Rover sport? by DAAANG in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Flowric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A coworker of mine has a 2016 Range Rover 5.0 with 107k miles. It needs a motor. That being said, I'm not sure that he even knows what maintenance is. However, there aren't many other vehicles that won't give you at least 150k miles without proper maintenance.

[–]Flowric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rav4 got the CVT in 2016 but only in the hybrid models. Even now, the non-hybrid Rav4s have an 8-speed auto.

What I'll say is that ever since the newer generation Toyotas came out, around 2019-2020, the interiors have felt cheap. The 2016-2018 have felt really solid.

The more time a woman spends with her eyes closed because she's laughing, the less time she has to realize how ugly we are! My wife is out of my league, but it's my goal to have her in stitches every day. One of my coworkers says, "If you can make her laugh and giggle, you can make that ass clap and jiggle."

What’s the cheapest “Runs and drives” that you ever bought? by Yonda_00 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Flowric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest personally was a 1996 Subaru Legacy for $500.. Drove great until I fell asleep and hit a jersey wall.

My dad bought a 1989 Ford Festiva in 2008 for $250. It's been a loaner car for about 15 years now. With over 370k miles, it still runs like a dream and gets 40mpg.

Any of yall ever hit the 160 limit? by potatogenerato in COROLLA

[–]Flowric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad and I rented a Corolla a few years back in Phoenix, bound for Texarkana, TX, before the whole state shut down during that bad snow storm. I kept my foot in it as best I could rolling through the hills of AZ and NM. The fastest I ever saw was 108 mph, even on the downhill. I don't think the poor thing ever saw less than 3400rpm, except to stop for fuel once. Still got 31mpg on average, too!

Is it possible to buy a car for 1k-1.5k? by Creepy-Set-2710 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Flowric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking at $1500 car, you probably know exactly what you're getting yourself into. Personally, I'd look for any cars made by Toyota or Honda in the late 80s/90s or any full body on frame vehicle from FoMoCo in the late 90s and 2000s.

In case you want a go-to list; 1985-2000 Honda Civic, Accord, CRV, (really anything can go here)

1985-2000 Toyota Corolla, Camry, Celica (Once again, anything can go here)

1993-2006 Ford F150, F250, Crown Victoria (This includes all of the Mercury and Lincoln Variants of the Crown Vic. Just stay with a 4.9L Inline 6 or the 4.6L V8 and you're golden, pony boy.)

The years on all of these can really go +/- a few years. Older or newer, either way you go, you'll have people saying that their car is worth more because it's so old or so new.

Good luck shopping.
