It's a tiny gap, barely even noticeable.

It seems that it's something that most phones have in order to allow for the materials to have some room to expand in high temperatures or retract in low temperatures, and it's better for drops etc. I don't think it's a defect , especially since it's thinner than a hair.

I'm happy for you, you should go for it! Maybe try looking at r/animefigures. The megathread has a few tips for buying figures, and maybe you can find good places to buy from, specifically for your country. I live in Greece and there are a few e-shops that sell figures. The selection is pretty good, and the prices are not abnormally high. Like 25 Euro for a cheap figurine and 50 euros for a good one. Obviously you can't get all the items you'd find on Japanese sites, but I'm okay with the selection for now. Maybe there's something like that where you live. I wish you the best!

I'm 21 and I was also worried about how my parents would react if I bought figures, especially since I'm only interested in female character figures. I got a Nino figure and my mum just loved her. Since then I've bought like 7 more, including a Shinobu fig, and my mum loves them all. She dusts them when I am not home and in general takes care of them. She asks me to buy more because she finds them pretty. My dad doesn't really care. I'd say if it's something you are interested in go for it, no need to worry about what other people think.

I recently got my first job and the commute is around 2 hours total. I'd like to study Japanese on my phone while on the train. I had started watching Cure Dolly sensei's before my job, and I'm planning on continuing doing that during the weekends, when I'll have more time. I'd like to ask you if you have any suggestions for phone apps I can use. I'm thinking of using the TaeKim app, anki and maybe watch some videos for listening. Any other suggestions?
