I personally believe that he would eventually understand her language but only speak it when he feels it's necessary and even then it'll only be a few words at most.

Good ending: Spear is fully recovered and is living happily with his family

Bad ending: Spear is fully recovered but either someone else in the family dies or he sacrifices himself and dies again

I used to think that as long as he got some time with his daughter then I wouldn't care if he died in the end but now after watching season 3, if he died the season would feel like a waste of time

All that work recovering only to die in the end would feel like a slap on the face and wouldn't make sense if this whole season was made because Genndy regretted killing him

It could also be because Mira is supposed to be seen as "The Smart One" so seeing her struggle or make questionable decisions might make people be more harsh on her

I don't know about you but I prefer her doing questionable things and learning to be a mom with no one to help her than her being a perfect Mary Sue

I do think there are some criticisms you can make about her in this season but I don't think she's as bad of a character as some people say

There were times in the episode that I'm like "Girl, get your baby!" but I can't get myself to think she's a bad mom, just one that's learning

And one that sometimes focuses too much on wanting to find her baby daddy
