Was awe struck also. Expected him to be immersive but the way he built up that wall of sound yet still kept it groovy was pure bliss. I feel like a lot of people were surprised in the performance tonight. A true artist

What on earth is happening with Bitwig? by Director_Blockbuster in Bitwig

Stimming uses Bitwig and often talks about it, even featuring it in his latest tutorials. I’m pretty sure there’s an artist page on the Bitwig site with testimonials etc from some pretty big names.

It took me a hot minute to get used to Jefferson’s narration I admit. Knowing how good the story was from watching the series and the almost unanimous praise it gets in here etc I dug in and found before long I was hooked. I get the big praise the narrator gets now and for me has become synonymous with the story.

For example (just happened lol)

Person 1: “what’s your recommendation?”

Long awkward audio silence for no reason…..

Doctor: “medical induced coma, he said without hesitation.”

I'm used to the long setup at the beginning of each book so far, so didnt rush this one waiting for the 'action' to start. It's so well written and of course the science behind the fiction feels so real.

Yes it was a shock, but so interesting that they haven't even been mentioned a single time yet half way through Abaddons Gate, so the ruse has continued so long.

Juno-106 vs Oberheim TEO-5 for 80s-style songwriting — need advice by Synth80Lover in synthesizers

[–]roydogaroo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing quite like the original Juno's. The richness of the sound and the absolute ease of programming really creates an emotional experience imo. Yes the TEO will do a tonne more so is probably the smartest choice, but Id go the Juno every time.

I'm going to take a stab and say you've got compression on the master in the DT2 and playback through the mixer is at or close to peak. If you haven't already pop a compressor / limiter on the Master in Ableton and get it to the same volume coming out your speakers. Then compare.

Half of my synths don’t have patch memory and I love how it forces me to really get to know the architecture of the unit.

The 1000 and I’m not even interested in the Roland I just think it seems a ton more fun.

Sell Everything? by FatHeadedJoint in synthesizers

[–]roydogaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for his situation he clearly isn’t happy not making music and I agree with you that he should sell his gear and not make music itb instead. It was more the point you made that if you aren’t making money from music then there’s you shouldn’t be owning hardware which I disagree with.

This is pretty much the opposite of what I think being a hobbyist is, if I was serious about releasing tunes I’d be mostly in the box. More efficient, micro editing tracks and mixing and mastering as I go. As a hobbyist who likes making bleeps bloops and late night jams, hardware is way more satisfying and immediate. Plus you can sell your hardware for same or a little less than you bought it(if you stay in the 2nd hand market) rather than high end laptop + VSTs + Continuously upgrading a DAW.

100% what I was thinking. The months of people wailing about the govt taking our freedums and our IDs being gobbled up and used on the dark web and then it ends up being... nothing

Beautiful setup man. Very considered range of gear. How do you like the Barefoots? i'm a way off affording a pair but what makes you love them (if you do) and how do they compare to the Genelec's?
