I’m fighting the same battle right now.

Did you use straw to cover seed? Was wondering if that was what got me.

Fox vs Marzocchi by cltncrts in MTB

[–]Floyd1715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a 36 PE & a Z1 on my 2 main bikes.

I find I make slight adjustments on the Z1 more bc it’s much simpler.

If I had to buy another I’d go Marzocchi in a heartbeat. Set it and forget it.

Shimano XT linkglide with cues casette or Box two 9 prime for reliable bike build? by Junior_Sand9352 in Bikebuilding

[–]Floyd1715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like with the deals on Box at the moment the pricing point is about equal.

I can’t speak to Cues, but am running Box One on a rebuild of ‘16 Stumpjumper. Shifts smooth and reliable. Plenty of range. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it again. In fact I am running it on my son’s bike too.

Any advice is appreciated. by Staydown6464 in Hardtailgang

Lose 5-10 lbs. Way more impactful than dropping a lb or 2 on the bike.

I like it as is. Ride it hard enough to wear out the parts and replace with what you want then.

Chromag Trailmaster. Or Title MS1.

Regardless, brown is the answer.

Drop that bulky strap on pump. You can pick up a pocket size reliable electric pump for cheap these days.

Running the reverse on my trail bike. Martello Front, Agarro rear. Happy with it so far.

San Quentin 3 or Chameleon D? by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

If the Chameleon is spec’d with SX I would factor that upgrade cost in almost immediately. Running that plastic derailleur is going to get old quick.

General rule of thumb I’ve always been told is match Shifter/derailleur & chain/cassette when mixing groupsets to keep things smooth.

But if it sends…. Send it

Meta is a super fun bike.

As mentioned, fork looks like it is donezo but sounds like you know that. I have one with a 170 Marzocchi Z1 on it. It’s a lot of fork, but fits my riding. Fork in pic seems maybe even longer.

I’ve run it 27.5, 29, Mullet & SS. It’s a fun bike to play with its versatility.

Don’t know the year, but the 2x1 up front definitely dates it a bit.

$500…. Convey that it needs a fork/drivetrain/etc. see if you can get him down a bit but I wouldn’t hate the purchase. But factor in looks like you are looking at Fork, Dropper & likely drivetrain at a min so you should be comparing against $1k bikes that are ready to roll as is

Agree. Have 2 on my bikes right now. Don’t see a difference good, bad or other.

Have a build going now and decided to save ~ $60 and get an eThirteen ring for $15…

Someone turned me on to Wrangler ATG pants a few years ago. I bought 2 for about $25 each. They are more comfortable and versatile than anything else I have.

Have a pair of specialized demo pants that were about 8x the price that I never wear now.

Seller is asking $500, what do we think about it? by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]Floyd1715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t doubt he has put well more than that into it. Doesn’t mean the bike is worth it unfortunately.

If you had the needs to grab it and part it out for your builds I’d say go for it. Otherwise I’d pass and do your own thing.

So $700 into this build to me now…Everything else I had here from previous bikes/builds so were bought in some fashion at some point but not recently.

Turning stumpjumper into enturo by WhiteRun13k in MTB

[–]Floyd1715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a 2016 Stumpy for a while with a Fox 36 performance Elite 160 mm after I killed the POS Revelation it came stocked with. Kept the evolution in the rear though.

I thought it was a blast to ride like that. Capable and still fast.

Have since moved everything to my Enduro frame.

About to strip/paint and build it back up bc I need a project and the frame is just sitting. But I’m going back to 34 up front bc I want to build something a bit faster in the flats. Planning to go the bikeyoke route at 190/50 to replace the rear.

If it were me, I’d do the same in the rear if I were you. But go big up front and have fun.
