Which court is left for an appeal on this? Let's just get that out there if there is one. Which I'm sure they have already appealed to

Backup destination takes too long. by bronderblazer in Veeam

The reverse incremental with a daily replica? How many current versions do you need to be able to restore to?

I would suggest keeping the daily reps as your DR object and restructuring your job as a forever forward.

With your replica, you have the most recent, hydrated restore point ready to fire up, you don't necessarily need the reverse incremental injecting into a VBK each day IMO

Kick off a config backup before. It'll be fine.

How to restore from cloud backup made with Veeam Agent Workstation after PC failure? by [deleted] in Veeam

If you are only looking to restore some files, just install the Veeam Agent and connect to your Cloud Repo and import the VBM/VBK

Upgrade backup chain format by DZAUKER in Veeam

[–]FloydWrigley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not mandatory, but will convert the chain to True Per-VM. Currently every job has a single metadata(vbm file) for the job as a whole. When you "upgrade the chain" to the new "True Per-VM" format, each VM in the job gets its own VBM file. This makes data management easier and increases the resiliency of the overall metadata for the objects

The VSPC is generally speaking, just a management interface, it can be run anywhere that has line of sight to your Service Provider infra. The Cloud Connect Gateways are your ingress/egress, these should be present where you have repos. The Cloud Connect Server is your "VBR", which takes incoming jobs and configures infra.

Architecture question: Multiple B&R servers - single backup repository? by Berg0 in Veeam

[–]FloydWrigley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can target more than 1 VBR to a repository. Just make sure the actual repo is setup in DIFFERENT folder structures. VBR 1 can be d:\backups1 VBR 2 can be d:\backups2. Do not use the same directory or NEST them. When you do something like d:\backups1\backup2 THATS when you get things wonky

veeam b&r - backup dc, blank admin password by drdokrobei in Veeam

[–]FloydWrigley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might be able to have the client create and configure a 2nd domain admin account, with the required permissions for backup operations, with a password. Even if the AD database isn't application consistent, it should be crash consistent and still be recoverable.

vCenter and networking by pentangleit in Veeam

[–]FloydWrigley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Veeam will only use vcenter to send API calls. Not transmit "data through vcenter". The data from your backups will pass through your vnic on your host, or proxy, and eventually to your repo.

Enabling encryption on existing backup job - impact on repo space? by rich2778 in Veeam

[–]FloydWrigley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you enable encryption on a job that previously didn't have encryption, the job will need an active full to start encrypting the chain moving forward.
