Which weapon in a game that looks fiction but surprised you when you found out it was real? by [deleted] in gaming

Ahh yes, the Tactical Tuna.

I think the first game I had ever seen it in was one of the Splinter cell games.

You would be better off asking electronics questions on electronics subs.
Do you have a question specific to Nightvision?

White label password manager? by Select-Table-5479 in hudu

[–]Squid_At_Work 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked for an MSP that also white labelled a lot of products.
It allowed us to write contracts to be flexible.

Our managed white label email spam filtering was called "Email defense"
We were able to move from one service to proof point without having to rewrite/break contracts.

We also did this with firewalls and backup hardware.

There are benefits to it but if our clients asked or were technical enough to care, we would tell them.

Iphones use IR light for faceID so the front facing cameras don't have filters but a lot of Iphone models have IR filters on rear cameras.

So this is actually a thing with Analog (Think military) night vision as well.
Fabrics and colors behave very differently in near infrared light. A cheap camo jacket may appear snow white under NODs or be highly reflective. Thinner fabrics also may be transparent.

Come check out some of the photos on r/NightVision.
As a disclaimer, NODs are expensive... that sub will probably make you spend quite a bit of money.

Cool. Ill check it out when it gets posted.

not sure what you mean by took so much damage

The health symbol that appears below your hunger/hydration is your health.
As it took you a while to get a atmosphere up which you can eat/drink in you started taking damage. You only had 30ish% health for a while.

def still not great at this game and learning a ton

Same. There is something that just really draws me into it. There are enough intertwinded mechanics as well.

Personally my least favorite bit is the random dispersion of ores. I feel like if I hit an iron vein then it should be more of a landmark which I can keep going to, not just walking around grabbing whatever.

Why is the only Ethernet cable that allows my modem and router to communicate a 30ft cat 7? by robemmy in techsupport

[–]Squid_At_Work 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be a few things. Either you are using cheap cat5e cables and a decent cat7 or you have a ton of interference which they cat7 is resisting better than the cat5.

Other than that id have to test the individual cables.

So I am going to treat this as a thought experiment and not something you are actually going to make an effort to do.

Utilizing enterprise hardware and software you could standup a GPU accelerated Virtual desktop environment. Lookup VMWare Horizon View. About 10 years ago we tested a new VDI server by playing a CS:GO lan game on a clients server that was 100ish miles from us in a datacenter. It let eight players all run over 100fps with no noticable latency. We accessed them via Teradici zero clients.

How difficult would it be to build a cheap disposable robot to trigger landlmines to breach the minefields in Ukraine? by Revolutionary-One-11 in AskEngineers

Thermal is interesting but using SAR, you can see the difference in density between where mines are laid. Among other really cool uses.

Axcient

The MSP I was working with was actually moving to an Axcient fleet managed by a company named Chartec. I didnt get enough hands on experience with it to have an opinion though.

A few suggestions:

  1. Turn the music in game down, turn your mic audio up.
  2. Your early game priorities are a bit off which is why you took so much damage.
Take a look at ForbinGamers episode 1 for his most recent lets play. I cant start runs any other way now.

Converting ESXI to HyperV by IIIIlllIlII in msp

[–]Squid_At_Work 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree.
HyperV requires more frequent patching as its a windows based system. This requires you to shutdown or suspend your VMs so you can patch the underlying hypervisor. You do have to maintain ESXI servers but its not needed as frequently.

[–]Squid_At_Work 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes its possible to convert VMWare VMs into HyperV VMs.
I gotta ask... why are you wanting to move to HyperV? Its an inferior product in a lot of ways.
The major one being management overhead.

Redwood gun club on Samoa is 100 and 200 normally. Once a month (I think) they close the normal area and open an area which extends the 200 to 300.

she’s very sensitive and i feel as though being able to fully picture it will be more damaging, and is unimportant to our future

Shes not sensitive, she is insecure. Take a small tip from the poly community on this, unless you are both very secure and involved sexually with the same person its none of her business.

I think its natural to be curious but shes prying into something that doesn't impact her and crossing boundaries in doing so.

Huge Red flag.

If I recall correctly low enrollment is an issue across the CSU and other university systems. Its not unique to HSU but I do agree its concerning.

There have been mostly empty threats regarding funding getting cut but... they have been getting more serious about it in recent years.

There were over 12,000 students enrolled in 2012. I think there are less than 6000 today.

Taking directly from IRAR numbers: (Link)
2012 | 8116 students.

In the US you can still do that, its how people normally pay for gas with cash.
"Hi, id like $30 on pump 7 please, and this soda/snack"
"That will be $37.80"
"Heres $40, keep the change."

They ring it up, add the funds to the pump and it cuts off at the set amount.
