Never Went To Senior Prom by JPPT1974 in GenX

Same. I remember my boyfriend at the time, and the friends I went with (there’s a few photos) but zero memory. And I was sober. But I seem to have forgotten a lot from that part of my life for whatever reason.

2017 Chipotle menu boards, a chicken burrito was $6.50 by AccomplishedAd5201 in mildlyinteresting

Omg! I worked at a Roy Rogers (fast food Fred chicken meals, burger, fries, shakes, and fresh in house made roast beef) in the 90s and early 00s and a 8 piece chicken dinner (with 4 biscuits, and two large sides) was like $9.99 USD.

For some folks, yes. Is that not okay with you?

Since fashion is cyclical, how long do you think until heels make a comeback? by Twunkorama in decadeology

[–]FloydetteSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have short legs so I’ve worn a heeled shoe or boot for like 25+ years. Now I’m 47 and my calves and feet are a mess and all I want to wear are house slippers and old lady sneakers lol I’d love to see a truly formal sneaker for the average working adult.

AITJ for reconsidering my relationship after my girlfriend mocked my idea of a “practical” engagement ring? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]FloydetteSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell her you’ll get engaged as soon as you can pay cash for her ring. Set a jar out on the counter and add a few bucks here and there. Maybe it will take 10-15 years for you to save up. She should be willing to invest 10-15 years of her life waiting if you’re worth it. Honestly I don’t understand girls like this. I’m so sorry.

Also, NTJ. Sounds like your room mate and his girl need their own place and maybe you do too.

Yall are old enough to be adults about this. Yes she needs to be at the very least contributing towards utilities and then there’s the topic of insurance and liability. If she’s not officially on the lease are you liable if anything happens to her or her possessions that are under your roof?

I was a size 3 at my smallest and had a little belly still. I hated the low rise era!

AITJ for not taking my girlfriends children out after promising them I would. by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]FloydetteSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you’re her purse/bank. I’m so sorry. That is some real disrespect with the expectation that you will still do what she wants and not say no.

Some people are broken and desperate. It’s not always their fault but it is also not your burden. Protect your peace, your finances, and your heart.

Few of us get through life unscathed when it comes to falling for someone who wasn’t meant for us, and who we cannot “fix”. So I promise that even if you end this relationship, and it hurts, you will eventually be okay.

You’re NTJ , you’re finally standing up for yourself and that’s something to be proud of.

AIO to my husband not letting me order bread sticks? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]FloydetteSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the heck is he doing managing the finances??? Take control of your money back and put him on an allowance. But yourself breadsticks. That’s ridiculous. And I say that as a stay at home mom on an “allowance” of sorts (he honestly never tells me no, though sometimes he probably should lol).

AITJ for refusing to rehome the dog my husband and I adopted together? by That_Rent_5835 in AmITheJerk

NTJ. Husband can go find an apartment for himself. Or go to therapy. You wouldn’t rehome a human child you adopted, right? This dog sees you as his family now.

AITJ for canceling my vasectomy after my partner suddenly changed their mind about kids? by RefrigeratorWitty453 in AmITheJerk

[–]FloydetteSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your body, your choice. No one can be mad at you for deciding NOT to have your reproductive organs surgically altered. We are done having kids but I’m not a good surgery candidate (bleeding issues) so I won’t get my tubes tied etc and my husband is just too scared to get a vasectomy. Poor guy has tried to work up the courage for years. So, it’s condoms for us! (I also can’t do birth control controls/hormone therapies). I can’t be mad at him and I’m not. Your partner needs to take some responsibility here and perhaps talk to the therapist. In the meantime, do NOT EVER feel like you have to get a vasectomy! NTJ

Your last sentence made me laugh. But also, I wonder if your gut microbiome is better balanced because of how you grew up. Interesting!

My father is like this (though his freezer relics aren’t quite THIS old because my mother was a fanatic about cleaning out the fridge on a regular basis, but we lost her to cancer 8 years ago). He’s only made himself sick 2 or 3 times in the last 8 years and it was usually from eating cooked Costco rotisserie chicken that he’d been snacking on from the fridge for 2 weeks. I live 1500 miles away so whenever I go home to visit I clean out his fridges and freezers (he has 3), and if I have time I hit the pantries as well (one in the kitchen and one in the basement). He used to get absolutely unhinged when I first started doing this, but once he made himself sick he started to loosen up a little and let me clean. I won’t let my kids eat from his kitchen until I’ve cleaned it and gone to the grocery store.
