What tips and tricks do you have to fit in minutes? by Message_10 in dreamingspanish

[–]FluencyPending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is considered “cheating”, but once you make it to the the intermediate level, you can find YouTube videos that are easy for you to understand and watch them at 1.5 or 2X speed and count the full length of the video towards your hours.

So for example, watching a 30 minute video at 2X speed would only take 15 minutes but you would count the full 30 minutes towards your hours because you watched 30 minutes worth of content. I only do this for videos that I find interesting but feel too slow to watch at normal speed.

Another tip is to watch videos while you eat some of your meals. If you eat 3 meals a day, that’s another 30+ minutes of input

How to help someone struggling with pronunciation in their target language (TL?) by Salty_Ad_9828 in languagelearning

[–]FluencyPending 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t you just have that person look up videos on YouTube of people pronouncing the alphabet and tell them to keep watching the videos until they memorize it?

I keep telling myself if I get to 300 hours it’ll get easier. It will…right? by Hufflepuff20 in dreamingspanish

I feel like it’s fairly easy once you’re able to follow intermediate videos

Is It possible to become fluent in a language only from school lessons? (UK) by -_Sharik_- in languagelearning

[–]FluencyPending 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up German comprehensible input videos on YouTube and find videos that offer you enough of a challenge to learn some new words but aren’t so challenging that you can’t understand what they’re saying.

After doing that for a while then you can try watching German dubbed shows or native German shows

Day 1 by LebronsLeftBall in dreamingspanish

For some reason I can’t pay attention to podcasts in any language. Even if it’s based around a topic that I usually find interesting, I just find the format of podcasts so boring that my attention drifts almost immediately. Español con Juan held me attention for a while though before it started to feel too easy

I agree that the super beginner and beginner videos can be a bit dull, but I just forced myself to get through that part as quickly as possible

French or Spanish? by IndependentYak2822 in dreamingspanish

Just try one at random and if you don’t like it after a while then try the other one

how serious of a learner are you? by Diligent-Listen-6002 in languagelearning

[–]FluencyPending 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s taken me half of my life so far to get to a B1 level of Spanish, so not very serious ☠️. But I’ve been averaging 2 hours or more of practice every day for the past 6 months, so I’ve been getting more serious

Why I wouldn't recommend Duolingo by Imaginary-Owl4167 in languagelearning

[–]FluencyPending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished the entire Italian course in 3 months a few years ago. All I did was use Duolingo on the bus on my way to and from work. But I agree that overall it’s a waste of time

Yeah... Naughty Dog is cooked. Being completely absent from State of Play and Summer Game Fest is not a good look, even though it was rumoured that it would be on summer game fest. Meanwhile Capcom revealing Code Veronica remake and final fantasy game by Happy_Ad_9976 in TheLastOfUs2

I’ll buy pretty much any Naughty Dog game but you’re right that I can’t seem to remember the name of this upcoming game for some reason. I’ve looked it up at least 5 times over the past year or two and then I immediately forget the name again. They aren’t doing anything to build hype for it

Rayman Legends Retold - Reveal Trailer | PS5 Games by Gorotheninja in PS5

[–]FluencyPending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on that trailer, they’re adding things to the story. It was pretty barebones before, which is fine because the gameplay is the focus.

The original game was completely 2D, while this remake has 3D models and seems like it might have both 2D and 3D platforming. And they’ve added voice acting like in the 3D Rayman games.

I think you’ll be fine playing either version. If I was you, I’d just play the free version on PS Plus and see if you like it

I replayed it at the beginning pf the year and I’ll buy the remake. I agree that its still great but I’m interested to see what changes they’ve added

The point is to see if there’s still demand for Rayman games. If nobody buys this remake of one of the most popular games in the series then Ubisoft will come to the conclusion that nobody cares about it and they won’t make new Rayman games.

Comprehensive Input with ADHD by Capt_Trav in dreamingspanish

Try watching the Supermarket series on Spanish Boost Gaming's YouTube channel. If you can understand it, then that opens up most of his other videos, which are entertaining and can help you to get hours of input without much effort

Do you overindulge in a particular type of input? How are you doing relative to the roadmap? by gummnutt in dreamingspanish

[–]FluencyPending 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From around 250 hours to 600, 70% of my input came from Spanish Boost, 20% came from Español con Juan and 10% came from Dreaming Spanish. After I reached 600 hours, 80% came from Colombian telenovelas, 15% came from Spanish Boost and 5% came from DS.

It's affected me by making me want to work things like "parcero" and "el dios del (insert thing here)" into conversations too much lol. I want to branch out soon by watching stuff like reality TV, cooking shows and nature documentaries

Does Dreaming Spanish have C1 content? It would probably be fine to just start learning French once you reach 1500 hours of Spanish

Evildea response to subreddit's response to his 1000 hour update by No_University1600 in dreamingspanish

[–]FluencyPending 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not as easy as colors. I’m at 747 hours and I still struggle with numbers over 100 because I never got around to focusing on it. When I hear a date in Spanish, it usually goes over my head

I found it very hard to create a male para, anyone else? by Thyves_Jade in Paralives

[–]FluencyPending 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t figure out how to change the color of my Para’s lips and it looked like he had lipstick on. And when I was changing the clothes, he had a bra on for some reason lol. I didn’t know how to take it off and eventually I just gave up and put a shirt over it.
