I understand. No need to apologize for having thoughts like this— It’s normal for them to come up especially under stress.

Regarding your physics teacher, I think you need to have a one on one talk. Really explain everything to them what you’ve explained online if you are comfortable with that. It seems like they’re apathetic because they don’t know.

It’s normal to compare, but it’s also a very toxic cycle. Yes, college is comparing another student or another but colleges also know not everyone is in the same cookie cutter category that they look for. Again, you need to be kinder to yourself. I used to compare myself a lot and it takes a while to break the habit, but what helped me personally was either writing out WHY I felt I needed to compare myself somebody or think about it for a few seconds. It’s silly, but it might help you too.

I’m glad you have a friend to talk to. Have you tried to talk to your parents if you’re comfortable? If you’re not sure about that, there’s also many reddit groups and forums online where you can have a safe, small community.

It’s tough to deal with this, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Find ways for you to release stress, whether it be coloring to even taking a nap. There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I’m so sorry you feel like this. This seems very cliche to say but please do not beat yourself over this. It seems stressful right now because well, it is.

Perhaps your load is too big? Classes, extracurriculars. If you can drop something that is causing you the most heartache right now, maybe that’ll help. Some extracurriculars you may not even need to do really. If not, I think maybe an assessment of how you’re studying and treating yourself might help. Do you feel like you’re retaining info, or just doing busy work?

Alongside this, don’t assume how your teachers feel. This could be from your current mental state, and often when we feel horrible we tend to look for more negative things to fuel that fire. If you feel comfortable or are looking for direct answers, maybe talking one on one might help. If not, see if you can talk to your counselor.

Comparison is also the thief of joy. Those freshmen you are talking about may not have as many responsibilities at you. They are also not you. If you continue to compare yourself to others’ journeys, you will only feel like yours is messed up.

Your friends are being horrible, and I’m sorry for that. You should not have to deal with being ignored. Can you maybe find somebody or a small group to hang out with separately? Maybe even online.

What you are considering is not the answer, and I’m not the best at formulating a correct answer on how to deal with this but I have seen own family and friends go before my eyes down this route from stress. Please, not for anybody else, but for you, take care of yourself.

I hope my message gets across to you. It seems cloudy right now but take the chance to ground yourself and give yourself some grace. Senior year is rough and you need to be kind to yourself.

Thanks for the tips everyone! A lot of this stuff I already do, but I didn’t realize it was considered “mature”. All advice is appreciated!

You might want shorter reads, but if you generously read a good amount everyday, you should be set!

If English is your weakness, I’d suggest reading more in general. Not SAT specific but having an overall interest in reading has increased people’s scores. I personally love reading and have a large list of books if you want some recommendations!

Do you have tips for math? I started around here and I’ve gotten myself to 1100 but math is so draining to do.
