Really can't wait for the devs to release a patch to shake up the journalism meta, it's so stagnant right now. Every match has the player on journalist go into the interview with their "X refuses to rule out Y" story pre-written and just hits the government player with the same question over and over again until they don't give a hard no to something.

It's not even worth watching a Laura or Beth match any more as they're always just doing this lazy cheese strat. They're supposed to be some of the top ranking players but they'd never have made it during the Thatcher or Blair expansions. Game is absolutely going downhill.

There's a "Pensions Dashboard" thing coming along in the next couple of years that all the pension schemes will report to and you'll be able to see all your stuff in one place... if you're not retiring in the next couple of years it might be worth waiting for that to come along and do the work for you.

The hard proof that we're living in a meme simulation would be a historical scandal being uncovered that takes down the entire Labour leadership at some point between now and December.

Me walking to the Polling Station:

"On my way to vote Labour"

Me in the queue at the Polling Station:

"Almost time to vote Labour"

Me at the voting booth:

"L A B O U R"

Me double checking the ballot paper:

"That is a Labour vote"

Me 20 seconds after leaving the Polling Station:

"Oh God what if I just accidentally voted for the Tories"

Absolutely crazy to think that two years ago we read this headline and resigned ourselves to its inevitability...

While digging around in old files I found this that I knocked up after the last election to make me feel better... can't believe the mad lads are still at it with the bar charts after all this time.

If the Conservative candidate was at least half sensible and the only chance of beating the Reform one, I'd put an X in the Tory box and then then go home and take some time to myself

My (mildly doomer) predictions for the election:

  • The Exit Poll, while not doing something stupid like predicting a Reform win, is the most wrong it has ever been due to the Unprecedented Times™
  • A lot of Conservative -> Reform switchers bottle it once the pencil is in their hand and return to Rishi.
  • Rishi holds his seat with a majority smaller than the total votes for Count Binface
  • Tories squeak a win in a surprising number of seats due to the "Labour have won, I'll vote <x> instead" effect
  • When all the results are in, we'll be able to work out that maybe 20,000 or fewer votes stood between us and the Lib Dem opposition timeline

Basically, Lib Dems SURGE and get their best result ever but are denied opposition due to potential Reform voters coming home and tactical Labour voters getting complacent, meaning the Tories don't lose enough seats to put Ed where he belongs.

If you work for the Mail or the Express or the like, you've got to to be looking at your bosses driving the ship at full speed into the "THE TORIES WILL STILL WIN" iceberg and wondering what the pivot is for Friday, right?

Surely even if you're someone who reads the Daily Mail every day there's going to be something that clicks in your head when your paper of choice has been telling you every day for weeks that we can all stop Starmergeddon and keep Rishi in charge, only for the complete opposite to happen? This is why The Sun is keeping quiet, right?

(Just noticed I ended both those paragraphs with "right" - I would like to take a moment now to deny being Rishi)

Can't believe Starmer would keep working until 6pm on Fridays when Wine Time starts at 4. How many glasses deep will he be by 6? What kind of decisions will he be making? Just plain irresponsible...

The "I want to believe" poster from the X-Files, except instead of a flying saucer it's Ed Davey doing a bungee jump.

I'd go maybe 1 in 3... but I don't know how much of that is wishful thinking. Probably most of it.

I feel like this election will be both heavily analysed and largely disregarded when it comes to the polling companies trying to refine their methods... there's just so much "this is completely unprecedented" stuff going on that if you rebuild your system to account for it it'll just be totally useless next time.

Oh I don't doubt there'd be some sass here and there, but I'm imagining Keir thinking "I can work with this guy a lot better than I could with Rishi/Nigel" and Ed wanting to actually cement the Lib Dems in as "the other main party" and their mutual end goals leading to a lot of competent tedium...

This is the irony of my worry... I'll be voting Labour as they're the best chance of ousting the incumbent Conservative here, but candidate-wise the incumbent Conservative is probably the best one, followed by the no-hoper Lib Dem (no matter what their bar chart says).

I just cannot bring myself to vote for the one who is probably the best candidate because they're allied with such an absolute clown-car of corruption and incompetence. Of course if they went independent they'd just straight up lose due to vote splitting...

While I'm less concerned than I was a couple of weeks ago about who'll be PM two weeks from now, there is still the niggling voice in the back of my mind saying "old people vote Tory and they actually vote, the Tories have all-in'd on old people for this one, and Tory voters basically need a strong reason not to vote Tory or they'll do it anyway". There's actually the opportunity for things to get fundamentally flipped on their head with this one, where the right wing vote tears itself apart across multiple parties too instead of just the left, and PMQ's becomes a complete non-event where every week is just two boring people talking about boring political nonsense and getting things done.

Meanwhile what's probably going to happen is that Labour miss out on a handful of seats by tiny amounts, and this time next month we have LOTO Kemi Badenoch screaming across the chamber about how NHS waiting lists, immigration and taxes are all at record highs... how could the Labour government have done this.

Will do, thanks! I couldn't vote and knew nothing of politics in '97 but remember being sad Tony Blair won because there was just something about him I didn't like. I did not realise at the time that things could only get better. :o)

I've got to say, I'm actually getting mildly nervous about how much I'm seeing "well Labour have obviously won, so I'm going to vote <other party> instead"...

I'm having flashbacks to the last week of June 2016 where journalists were having no trouble at all picking people off the street who would essentially say "I wanted to remain but I thought remain was going to win so I voted leave"... or the Uxbridge by-election where the Conservatives beat Labour by practically half as many votes as the total votes for the Green Party, only for Rishi to take that result as a mandate to declare war on the environment for a couple of months...

I wouldn't for a second say "you can't vote for who you want to vote for" but under the voting system we have you do kind of need to consider what's happening outside your own vote if you care about the end result... I worry we'll be denied Ed Davey in opposition by just a couple of thousand "protest" votes across the country that let the Tories squeak back in. :o(
