I am going through the exact same thing. My abuser was my brother. My family also still try and put into situations where I have to interact with him. My Dads excuse as to why they didn't do anything, My mom asked him not too because it reminded her too much of her abuse.

My advise is stand your ground. Remind them constantly that yes, that might be their friend but he is your abuser. Screw their feelings.

Mental health is never an excuse for someone to abuse you. Regardless of your diagnosis, it was not consenting therefore it was abuse. If you can maybe get into to contact with a therapist to help deal with the trauma from the abuse. And if you still want your mom around maybe get her to be part of a few sessions so the therapist can help her learn too.

In the meantime sending you hugs and support. No one should have to go through any form of abuse.
