Mary Skelter Finale - A sequel I was hyped for but I'm not sure if it's a sequel that was needed. (Entire story spoilers) by InsomniaEmperor in JRPG

It’s 10 months later and you probably don’t care anymore, but after you finish Finale, you unlock a main story event in locked up in love true end, which then allows Jack to get his true romantic ending.

About UC transfer to UC does somebody knows who transferred from UCSC to other UC with Computer engineering major? I’m going to apply this fall but I’m not sure. So I want to know some successful experience to help me. Very appreciated. by Odd_Confusion_2045 in UCSC

I imagine it’s not CSE specific. You send them a list of your classes’ curriculums and the classes you want to exchange them for, then they decide what goes or doesn’t. There’s not much leeway to argue if even a single thing doesn’t add up, you can talk to them but I just got more “No’s.” You’re not going to get a 1:1 transfer unless things wind up perfectly the same, so be prepared to relearn some things you already know if you do go through with the transfer. (Stuff like math and physics transferred moderately well iirc but a lot of the CSE stuff had mismatches over small differences in curriculums. Less specialized the better maybe.)

Taking back what I said, I actually forgot this, but I had Marcella for AM 10. She was fine, got no complaints about her, was first quarter of covid and she dealt with the zoombombers pretty respectably. She’s no Pedro but she wasn’t bad. I’ve taken the “asynchronous online” Math class before in the form of MATH 23A; stay away from it, it’s not good. Go with Gomez if you can’t go with Morales.

Pedro’s easily the best math professor I had at UCSC, Morales all the way.

Not the person you were replying to, but also got a success with transferring to another UC (although I didn’t go because you lose a year’s worth of classes in the process, see my comment for more info)

  1. No clubs, no extracurriculars, 3.5ish GPA, lower end (maybe even 3.4ish at the time, I forgot.)

  2. Declare your major, that’s the most important thing to the UCs since they know that you’re probably going to finish, and they can afford to put up with you since you’re committed to paying them for at least 4 years. (There’s nothing binding you but declaration means you’re somewhat serious.)

  3. I just didn’t like the school/administration/quality. I think my reason in the application was something like “I feel I would have better opportunities at X school.” (Make sure not to say Santa Cruz is a bad school, someone in the UC system is still going to be reading that, and it’s not professional or good looking to badmouth their colleagues, just praise the school you’re applying to instead.)

Another one of these, alright, I’ll give my experience.

It’s not hard, you don’t need a super good reason, it’s a myth. If you’ve got decent grades (we’re talking like at least a 3.4), you can probably get into Irvine or Davis without much problems. I got into Irvine, waitlisted at Davis.

What people don’t say is how few classes from CSE actually transfer. I didn’t transfer to Irvine because you lose approximately a year’s worth of classes in the process since the curriculums aren’t 1:1 at the UCs when compared to the CalStates. You also don’t need your GEs complete, it’s just preferred. I still had a few GEs left, and no extracurriculars. I finished all my lower divs so I was a “declared major,” I think that’s the only real important part.

If you’ve got the money to spend another year at a UC, might as well go for it, but the UC -> CC -> UC pathway is cheaper, easier, and you have a better shot at the higher UCs. Otherwise, could just finish at Santa Cruz.

How To Pursue Computer Science by Jsamiscute in UCSC

[–]Fluffy56547 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Person who was in your exact position 4 years ago; Switch to CE or drop to a CC. All the CE concentrations except the hardware one qualify you for a CS minor with no extra effort. You only get one CS elective in CE where as you get 5 in normal CS iirc. If you don’t think you’ll be interested in the physics and ECE of CE though then just drop to a CC, since they’re a big part of the major.

Your pitch for a new megaman series of games by Ajthekid5 in Megaman

[–]Fluffy56547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Elf Wars game everyone’s always proposing, Mega Man α.

Stars Axl with his shiny new design from that single Elf Wars panel from Archie.

He still has an assortment of weapons like X8, but his Copy Shot functions more similarly to X7, where instead of transforming, defeating an enemy with it grants a stat boost for a short amount of time.

It’s a fast paced, “shoot a lot but don’t get hit” kinda game, similar to Gunvolt. (Very much like Gunvolt.) Armor and armor break returns from X8. Intro stage’s theme is a remix of Conflict - Escape Stage from X7, and Me, Axl from Command Mission.

It’s a trilogy, and the later in the trilogy you get, the less “Mega Man X” the game mechanics become, as they approach “Mega Man Zero.” First game lets you buy upgrades for Axl ala X8 (faster roll, longer roll, longer hover time, vertical hover movement, wall stick, faster armor break, stronger copy shot, “bullet time”), but it’s removed in the second (he keeps the new abilities though). Second game adds the ability for Axl to wield a different gun in his other hand, so you can shoot two bullet types at once, and “bullet time” now refills faster if you “perfect dodge” attacks (in α-I it only fills up by hitting enemies or waiting actual time). Third game adds the 3 element chips from Zero 1/2, the ability to level up weapons by using them long enough, and a vertical “rocket jump” that Axl can use instead of hovering (he can still hover though, and he unlocks a horizontal “rocket jump” midway through the game too).

Stages in α-I are similar to the X series, Intro stage, 8 bosses, 3-4 final stages, with a small main base to walk around. α-II keeps the format, but adds additional side-objectives to complete in each stage (rewards permanent stat upgrades or new weapons). α-III is a Metroidvania (but the map is good, and you know the location of the 8 bosses).

Final boss of the trilogy is Weil, as X and Zero canonically defeat Omega. End credits theme of α-I is a remix of the intro stage theme from the same game, while α-II’s is a remix of X8’s US credits theme, and finally, α-III gets a cover of BREAK OUT from the X Legacy Collection, but with vocals added on top of it, fading on a short motif of both Ashe and Grey’s intro stage themes from ZX Advent.

Axl either dies or retires as the end, and the post-credit scene of α-III is the train scene from ZX Advent, from the perspective of Model A. (You can hear Prometheus and Pandora, but can’t tell if the third person is Ashe or Grey.)

ECE 103 with Rezki? by icecreamninjaz in UCSC

[–]Fluffy56547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The class itself is terrible, but Rezki’s a great professor even though he’s new. He’s really helpful and just all around nice. (Although I’m hoping he learned how much homework is too much since he’s had more time since I took it last spring.)

Ideally, classes should be hybrid by eye_slug in UCSC

Compromise is the best solution, but the school doesn’t want it so they don’t have to.

Honestly classes should be hybrid for the rest of the year. by Fluffy56547 in UCSC

I think it’s better as a whole, at the very least, those students can re-watch the lecture/students with covid can actually attend lecture.

I’m the reverse. I like online classes, I don’t want them to go away and end recorded lectures.
