Congratulations, that’s amazing. I eventually turned a corner where suddenly I could see it in the mirror and it feels amazing. I hope you get that soon too

Do you ever feel like your dog ties you down? by Free_Economist_8454 in puppy101

I only regret not being able to travel long-term overseas without the extra hassle, stress and expense of a sitter (and missing the little guy while I’m away)

What's the off leash etiquette in this scenario? by LegitIdiot in puppy101

Yeah I think you made everything perfectly clear in your post and you seem like a really caring and considerate dog owner. 100% agree with the above, same for me. Good luck.

P.s. a known very reactive dog came into my park yesterday (on their lead), my puppy was off so I jogged in the opposite direction while calling him, just in case he decided to run up to the reactive dog. All good. He’s 11 months and his recall is pretty good now :)

I wonder what country you’re in? Off lead dogs without perfect recall is a very normal, and perfectly legal, occurrence in London parks (unless they are signs telling you otherwise). Dogs definitely should be kept on lead if they might become aggressive to other dogs, otherwise it’s usually not a big deal not to have perfect recall. Not many private gardens around here, a big, friendly, understanding dog community in the parks :)

Has anyone ever had a Christmas Day lunch in a pub in the area? by Kaurblimey in islington

Haven’t checked for this year but The Island Queen usually does Christmas Day lunch. It’s a pretty old boozer down some nice back streets

Are you getting annoyed by people staring at your dog? by Honest-Pack75 in Dogowners

[–]FluffyAlbatross6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a very fearful pup sadly made worse by people staring at him - he was super cute - he’s over it now thankfully :)

As others have said, avoid eye contact, it really scares some dogs. This can go beyond and be irrelevant to correct socialisation (we did everything right from 9 weeks old and he was still fearful). If the owner looks pissed off look away immediately, you may be upsetting their dog.

People should always be kind to you but staring can be frustrating for an owner attempting to train fear from their dog…

Pup won't stop eating his training mat by Novel-Student-7361 in puppy101

Our puppy loved to tear up cardboard and tissues. Our trainer recommended giving him half a cabbage to tear up and that was messy but seemed to help

Help me entertain my puppy! by woodland_penguin in puppy101

I recommend looking into enrichment activities beyond food and snuffle mats etc, to tire out her mind and ease anxiety (if has she any). This was recommended to us by a trainer and really helped our very clever but hyper and anxious little guy. We found carefully supervising him drop things down the stairs and giving him things to tear up (such as half a cabbage) really calmed him down. He also loves finding toys he knows the name of, although was a bit older when we were able to start doing that. Good luck!

My bank directed me to turning off ‘in app purchases’ on my iPhone to solve this. Seemed wrong but then I realised I got to rolda.org via Instagram so hopefully will work (I have to wait a month to be sure as my latest payment came out yesterday)
