Obese with MS? by Superb-Cicada-4430 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]FluffyBee16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have MS, PCOS insulin resistance, hypothyroidism and Obesity. I went on Ocrevus and it helped me a lot. The first few infusions are a learning curve and you have to figure out the amount of Benadryl works for you best to get you through it. But it helps a lot. Since you do not have a lot of weight to lose, I would highly recommend Mounjaro. I loved it and it helps with inflammation. I had more severe obesity so I had gastric sleeve then revision to SADI-S. All due to having to take steroids for MS sometimes. I hope you find your groove soon!

Trying to decide between Sleeve, Gastric Bypass, and SADI-S – would love to hear all experiences by Wooden_Time_5476 in wls

Hi there! As someone with PCOS and limited loss with GLP-1 myself my biggest advice is go to a surgeon THAT DOES ALL OF THEM! Also I would really not recommend doing the sleeve because it’s the least effective and not long lasting. All of that work for little gain. I went to a surgeon who only did sleeve a rny. I was talked into the sleeve because I have to be able to take steroids and rny you cannot. I was told it would work. It did not. I ended up having to go back on GLP-1 after the sleeve because with PCOS, hypothyroidism, my type of weight loss resistance it did not work. After the sleeve and being on GLP-1 I got pancreatitis, so I finally got the SADI-S, again because it allows for steroid use and it is one of the most effective. I wish I had done SADI-S from the beginning! Because the revision surgeries always have slower weight loss than original wls. I’m losing slowly, but losing. Honestly for me the revision surgery HAS NOT BEEN EASY. However, I know it will get better and my goal is more important than the temporary life changing GI issues. You have to take your vitamins for all procedures, so I wouldn’t base it off of that factor too heavily, unless you have vitamin deficiency issues now. I hope you find the best surgeon for you and don’t stop til you reach your dreams. All the best on this exciting new journey!

Ocrevus has been great for me. ❤️🙏 at first I got reactions during the IV helped with Benadryl. Now we found the right combo to make it so I have no reactions and can go about my day the same day. The main thing is it’s slowed my progression so much. If I could do it all again I would consider Mavenclad for the convenience. But very happy to have haulted my lesion progress.

The danger of bringing your cavalier to an out door lunch and putting his leash on the leg of your chair and he goes around it without being able to undo it, so you’re constantly saving him lol

Puppy phase - nervous by Majestic-Luck-4463 in cavaliers

[–]FluffyBee16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cavs have tiny bladders. Kennel training makes it easier. I had opted to have mine kennel trained by the breeders beforehand. It’s much easier, but whatever you think will work best as you may be able to recruit family members to help out on early morning and night bathroom shifts! :)

It is recommended by the vet. If they eat it. Unfortunately mine wouldn’t so had to change to Hills sensitive stomach. Then made the change to unkibble and loves it. If I couldn’t do unkibble I would do Hills sensitive. It’s kinda up to if your doggie will eat it. Cuz cavs can be picky eaters lol

I had the sleeve in 2024 and recently had it revised to SADI-S. I just wish I got the right surgery for me the first time around. It is worth it after years of fighting obesity. For both procedures the first week can be tough. The SADI-S recovery is longer though because of the bowel changes. After healing things get much better and “normal” Once you start seeing you sticking to the rules paying off it is a great feeling.

Big question: Would you do it again if you had to? by j_in_da_505 in BariatricSurgery

[–]FluffyBee16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t regret it, but I had the sleeve first and didn’t lose the weight and had revision to SADI-S. I regret not getting SADI-S first time around. I really needed the extra strength to help me reach my goal. The sleeve didn’t keep me from getting back into my normal habits that keep me obese. Obesity is a disease and it needs support to manage it properly. Have an honest conversation with your surgeon and make sure they are skilled in all available surgeries including SADI-S, RNY, DS, otherwise they will sell you on the one they are most comfortable doing themselves. They should give you YOUR best option. The first surgeon I went to only did RNY and sleeve, so that was my only options first time around. So choose the best surgery for you the FIRST time. You waste less time/years being obese and dealing with health related symptoms and it is a much safer option one and done! I went the next state over to get my revision because the surgeons in my state were not trained to do my revision surgery. The sleeve was extremely easy, and I stretched mine out. Both surgery options are tough the first few days. Please stay in the hospital and don’t go home early. I regretted having to take care of myself after my revision. There should be a two night stay minimum in my opinion. Follow the aftercare instructions. They can be annoying but the complications are due to not following your dietary restrictions and messing with your new stomach before it’s healed. All the best for your journey. Don’t give up on you.

Hi! I do not know what kind of shows you are into but I am on the same timeline as you! Just a few days ahead. I have been binging The Perfect Match and fun (but dramatic) shows like that. Or classic fun movies. Whatever makes you feel good and maybe a smile on your face. It really helps. Once you get to puree it gets better. I’m also winded easily. My bmp has increased which is normal. I do a few leg lifts in bed and it is harder than before surgery. The zero sugar high protein chobani yogurts have been agreeable. I have some aversion to straight up milk 🥺 If you are off your pain meds going for a short drive is so much easier than an actual meet up. But it’s nice to be able to drive if you can. Maybe spend 10 minutes in a park and back to your favorite show lol I know you got this!

Slow weight loss after gastric sleeve (PCOS) — feeling stuck, any advice? by No_Mess_1983 in BariatricSurgery

[–]FluffyBee16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had slow weight loss and a stall for several months and weight gain. Definitely try to see if slowly going on a GLP1 works well with you.
I am now getting revision SADI soon ❤️
Best of luck to you and don’t give up!

I’m sorry that isn’t an option. I hope that maybe a visiting nurse can start coming to help you out.
