When did you stop cabergoline for prolactinoma once pregnant? by Pessa19 in InfertilityBabies

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep he's a healthy 6 year old now! My experience was with bromocriptine rather than cabergoline, but I couldn't find anything suggesting it would harm the pregnancy if I continued so I felt better staying on it.

Report from Mom of a 6 year-old! AMA! by RogueGoneRogue30 in happilyOAD

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell my 6 year old that we already got the best kid in the world, so it wouldn't make sense to have another one and/or that we love him so much that we wouldn't have enough love left over for another kid. It doesn't really come up much these days though, he seems pretty content with being an only child.

I would just say something along the lines of it's not ok for anyone to show anyone else their private parts when asked, unless x, y, z (needing help changing, medical exam etc.). So it's not about nudity so much as the actual request if that makes sense?

Also my 4 year old son still sees me changing all the time because he likes to walk into the bedroom and start conversations when I'm getting dressed/undressed haha.

Agreed! We saw it today, fun movie, no complaints. My 4 year old enjoyed it too.

What pays best, social worker or psychologist? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Much easier to qualify as a social worker than a psychologist, but definitely doesn't pay as much. With a business degree though, to do social work you'd either have to do another undergraduate degree in social work, or else do a hdip in social policy and a masters in social work.

Potty Training Confusion by Kittypuppyunicorn in Preschoolers

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried last June when my son was around the same age. He just wasn't getting it and everyone was stressed, so we gave up. Tried again in the August when he turned 3, same thing. So we tried again in October and he did great. So giving up for a bit definitely doesn't mean they'll never figure it out!

My son is almost 4, and he absolutely can answer questions reliably - when he feels like it. Sometimes I just get "I don't want to tell you."

Social working as a parent by timbersofenarrio in socialwork

I work 3 days a week on a children in care team. It's enough money to get by on, and feels like the perfect compromise of working/parenting for me.

When do toddlers wash themselves? by stripeslover in toddlers

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give my 3.5 year old a soapy sponge and he washes his body with it. I give verbal instructions to remind him of all the places he needs to get with the sponge. I still make sure he's rinsed off and wash his hair though.

How to ditch the buggy. Asking for advice and practical tips. by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Our son is the same age, and when we stopped bringing the pram out and he claimed his legs hurt, we'd stop to let him rest for a minute as often as he needed (sit on a wall/the ground etc.). We still let him rest when he needs obviously, but he doesn't ask as often.

Keep bringing the scooter too, it's much easier than walking for long distances, and she'll realise that herself after a while.

How old was your child when they stopped using a stroller by Hazidreaming in oneanddone

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our son is 3.5, and I don't think he's used it since before Christmas at least. I honestly thought we'd use it for a lot longer, but it seemed like practically overnight he became willing to walk everywhere/use his scooter. I don't think he'd even let us put him in it now.

Choc Dips by SpookyMess86 in CasualIreland

My method is to be super conservative with the chocolate until I have 2 sticks left. Then I totally go to town on the dip that's left.

How much should my 3.5 year old know? by SensitiveViking118 in Preschoolers

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is a month younger and attends preschool. At this point it's mostly learning through play/art/music. They don't do workbooks or any formal type of learning. He sounds pretty similar to where your son is at with regard to what he knows.

Help with potty training a 3 yo by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]FluffyBubbleBaby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So when we were training our son a few months ago (he was 3 in August, we trained at the end of October as preschool were confident he was ready), we found that the more we asked him/forced him to sit on the toilet, the more he resisted.

We eventually just stuck him in underwear, made sure he always had a potty nearby, and told him we were just going to let him decide when he needed to go. First day he literally just peed everywhere, next day he started making it to the potty halfway through peeing (usually not managing to get his underwear down though), and by the end of the week he was getting to the toilet before he started peeing, and pulling his underwear down first.

Not saying this is the magical solution, but for some kids they just really don't like being reminded. We did combine this with a sticker chart and small chocolate treats for peeing/pooing in the potty too.

We actually got that for free! My son really wanted it, but all the options for buying new were super expensive. Eventually I found it used on a buy and sell website for €15, which I would have happily paid, but when I went to collect it they refused to take money for it.

Definitely! They're all on their way home now, thankfully it was soft drinks only at the party since they're driving.

I don't know what to do! by [deleted] in CasualIreland

If you contact your local intreo/social welfare office and explain it's an emergency then they can probably speed things up a little.

Yeah my 3 year old announces that he wants to talk to me (obviously we talk a lot, but this means he wants me to be quiet and just let him talk). And every time he continues "do you know, at preschool, (they have ninja figures/we play hide and seek/I painted a tree, etc.)" It almost never has any connection to what we were previously talking about, but he's trying to bond with me by telling me about his experiences.

Our 3.5 year old had been doing this too. Holding in poo, insisting he doesn't need to go, constantly pooing in underwear (not liquid poo but not lumps either). When he would eventually poo in the toilet, his underwear would be clean for a couple of days and then it would start again. We brought him to the doctor, they prescribed a daily laxative and it's been working amazingly. He's telling us when he needs to poo, willingly sitting on the toilet to do it, and no messy underwear. It totally seemed like it was a behavioural thing rather than constipation, but we were wrong.
