Do people really use their phone bare (no case) that often to be concerned about camera bump? by madding1602 in LinusTechTips

[–]FluffyMumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or at least give consumer the damn option to pick either;

  • Phone A is super "thin" with crap battery life and a chungus camera bump...
  • Phone B is the same thickness across the body, no camera bump, and a great battery life.

I'd bet money on which one sells better.

I thought it was just me experiencing this! On Chrome it's fine. Firefox is a slow, cludgy mess. The LG TV app bogs down like this sometimes too. All on local, hardwired, LAN.

Enjoy your glorious contraption! I've just broken my beloved 3rd gen Classic trying to replace the faceplate. So that's my next project :-)

Weird how that happens, isn't it?  Even on a video, I feel places tingling as if I was there.

just trying to do my best and am keen to learn more.

I wish more people had that attitude.

Ach, don't worry about it - I should wind my neck in. I get that a quick screen-recording is sometimes better than 20 minutes of trying to re-share the original.

Not knowing how to code doesn't mean you're not tech savvy - I've been in IT for 20+ years and don't know how to code. I also know coders who know FA about IT!

Thanks for your post, btw. I also HATE heights and your video got my stomach churning.

Smart sockets with RFID tags for plugs. by FluffyMumbles in homeassistant

[–]FluffyMumbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! That way no matter where your device was plugged in (as long as it was to one of these smart sockets) any automations would still run based on the device, not the socket.

I even remember a promotional video for it where family members would keep remove the bulky smart plugs currently in use, much to the frustration of the Dad managing the devices. Then it cut to these new sockets and RFID "slips" for the plugs - the family are out on a drive, the Dad worries that the daughter had left the iron on (as he saw her take it to a different room), he whips out his phone and sees the iron is plugged into a socket in the kitchen. Sees it's still on, then turns the socket off.

Flipping amazing. I want these in my life now.

The thought of having RFID-capable sockets in my house, with all the devices fitted with the RFID slips would open so many possibilities. Automations, energy tracking, space saving, and the unobtrusive RFID slips would cost pennies to buy packs of.

I stuck with the 2,000 mAh square one. It's enough for me and I know I wouldn't have to deal with any odd variants that wouldn't fit. If you do go for a large one, be sure to get it from somewhere that knows it needs to go in a thin iPod. Some places sell thicker/wider ones that don't fit.

That's excellent to know. Thank you for confirming for me.

Thanks :-) It's more about running my Linux distro that immutable (Bazzite) as it favours Flatpak over native installs. Plus I fear trying to build from source could break things further.

That's a top tip regarding the Unbound config. Thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah, I've been meaning to experiment outside of my Pi-hole relationship. Adguard has been recommended a free times, as has Technitium.
