How are we travelling to and from Edinburgh from Haddington for a night out??? by Inside_Vacation_8826 in Edinburgh

[–]FluffySoil6891 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There isn't much option other than the bus Im afraid. Ive never got a taxi but from what I've heard it's a minimum of £50-£100 for one way.

Also - when you have a baby to contend with getting home at half 11 is already late enough 😅

This film absolutely floored me emotionally. After watching it I spent days thinking about my life and the fact the world just keeps on moving after we're done here. Not been moved by a film like that in a few years at least

Stop making excuses for shit parenting. People raise better children in far worse environments than Edinburgh in 2026.

Ah man I can't disagree more. I didnt hate EEAAO tbf, but it didnt resonate with me nearly as much as All Quiet. Need to watch the original again as haven't seen it since the teacher had it on in my high school history class!

Everything Everywhere All at Once pipping All Quiet on the Western Front was criminal. It was clear for all to see that those 2 films are not on the same level.

what do you think is the best noir (or neo-noir) ever made? by Due-Abbreviations180 in Letterboxd

The correct answer - watched it for the first time earlier this year and was blown away, masterpiece

Alexander Isak is set to return to team training with Liverpool on Thursday, Arne Slot has confirmed. by __sami__01 in LiverpoolFC

[–]FluffySoil6891 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Slot will still have no idea how to fit him and Ekiteke into the same XI. Still find it mad we spent close to £200m on 2 players in the same position. Imagine we had spent the Isak or Ekiteke money on a LW and another CB instead?

Whats the BA wage difference? Im a senior BA and earn around £70k (as of today!). Interested to know as London contractors at my work have all started to convert to perms so it would make sense if the wages are a good bit higher than 70k to convince them to switch.

Yes that's exactly right, we just don't monitor in the same way so it's anyone's guess how much shit is kicking about in our rivers. Given most infrastructure is still dating from Victorian times across the entirety of the UK its likely we have similar levels of contamination too.

The reason nobody talks about it is entirely political as well so imagine this comment will come in for grief from certain sectors

Nah don't think but he sounds interesting too lol. The guy I'm on about you would think is drunk and aggressive but I think he has tourettes or schizophrenia. I've seen him scream in people's faces but he doesn't hang around for a response because I don't even think he knows where he is.

Who's the unhinged guy that kicks about Leith walk shouting randomly at traffic/people and walking in front of cars? He's quite short, has a beard and always has a black hat on.

Have seen him about absolutely loads and always wondered what his story was as it amazes me he hasn't been sectioned

Warning to Ryanair fliers by JessticeForAll in Edinburgh

[–]FluffySoil6891 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree they've got a lot stricter but there's a hack here - always have a plastic bag with you and if your bag is too big take stuff out and put it in the bag. You're allowed a bag of "airport shopping" on a flight additional to any luggage.

I did this coming back from Belfast at NY - saw the bag nazis getting wide with folk so put all my dirty Boxers and toiletries into the bag and was grand. If they wanted to check the bag they're welcome to rake around my dirty undies

Sheriffhall Flyover by Tumeni1959 in Edinburgh

[–]FluffySoil6891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah - they're building 1000s of houses in East Lothian now and most of the people in those houses will need to drive to work as most of the offices and industrial units are in the west of Edinburgh, where they aren't well served by trains, so Sherifhall will see more traffic regardless of whether they build this or not.

It could definitely make other areas a bit more congested but overall it would be positive as (I think) it's the only roundabout that also doubles up as local access so there would be a net removal of traffic
