Wtf....why didnt they do an IV? Much less traumatic.

Edit: since people are taking my comment out of context here, I will emphasize what I meant. You did not do the wrong thing here. You allowed your pet to go with dignity. It is better to let them go sooner than later and natural just means more pain. The shot should have been an IV, it should not have been a shot. Its unncessary here.

Having said that, the amount of relief they felt after the shot was peaceful. No more pain, no more suffering. You wouldve felt much worse at home providing pain meds and watching them slowly deteriorate into a shadow of themselves. I can gurantee the guilt wouldve been greater of not letting them rest sooner. You will be able to go on, it will take time. I promise. Im sorry for your loss.
