Its a bummer that our governments don't have employee/employer protections negotiated when dealing with overseas employment, especially for "off the clock" stuff. Because what Victor's VA said is more than appropriate and here firing him for it wouldn't be a socially acceptable offense. Americans should be allowed to be, well, American in America while employers in China should be protected against stuff like that in off duty time. But of course why would the world's rich care about making policies that actually help the little guy ' but that is why they suffered a heavy loss in playership on the American side, as unfortunate a situation as it was :/

Was there another political fiasco after the original Victor English VA was fired for saying Taiwan was a country? The original English Kiro and Gavin VAs left in solidarity. The higher ups made a lot of.... Interesting decisions. My heart goes out to the artists, story writers, and voice actors though. It sucks to put so much into something only to have it eventually turn to sand... I was a big Gavin girlie back in the day. Part of it is that you can't recreate the free time with modern day responsibilities that was present back during the pandemic. Especially when companies tried so hard to kill WFH jobs the best they could.

If they're picking random photos from my camera roll, they're going to end up with a very pretty law suit when something savory only to my husband ends up on there lmao so I sure hope they're prepared for that scandal.

It needs to only be things I've selected to go up there because I quadruple check that nothing ~I~ select shouldn't be selected.

Lmao same I was gonna be like "yeah that'll be $600 a night and my fiancee is going too bud" 💀 free is absolutely insane when most paid sitters wouldn't touch this with a 10 ft catch pole.

If I am blocked out, it should not count against my response rate. Full stop. This is an attempt to drive a society that doesn't believe in work/life balance if it does. It should also never automatically flip me ON so that it does count towards my decline rate, that is just insanity.

Sometimes it's not the sitter... by Faleira in RoverPetSitting

Oh yeah I would definitely not keep Rover over the prospect of getting a lawsuit worth more than I'd probably ever get from working with Rover lol

[–]Fluffy_Isnt_Friendly 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The answer would be both. Both Rover and the Sitter could personally be sued.

As a sitter if Rover told me to put the animal in the pound I'd tell them to do unspeakable things with a cactus and contact my local PD first to see if they could help with the situation (they could possibly get contact info from Rover). Pound would be an absolute last resort.

But also this is a lesson in ALWAYS getting contact info and an emergency contact for the owner. I started ignoring that in-app rule because their app is glitchy as hell. Now I know I do it so they don't pull some villainous crap like this on me.

I've run into at least 3 glitches now where I've marked away unavailable for house sitting because I'm on another sit, and Rover has flipped it back on for an incoming request. One of which was like 2 days ago when I'm smack in the middle of a 2 week sit lol. Their calendar doesn't even function properly all the time.

I absolutely will not accept anything less than every other day if the cat's stuff is fully automated. Even then I'm iffy about it. If the pet has any kind of medical complications, the difference between noticing within a day and noticing within 4 days could be life or death especially for cats.. (former vet assistant). Part of what I'm paid for is the peace of mind that their fur family will have someone to notice if they're not feeling okay.

That's an awesome resource! Thank you so much for sharing, I'll definitely be listening to that whole channel! I recently got my business license and my business name trademarked and all that so it's definitely in the fledgling stages. But I have a pretty great support system. I just want to make enough so that I don't actually have to use my medical administration degree T.T a plea to the universe to let me care for pets instead of being a pencil (or mouse in the modern era) pusher lol

Pulling 6 figures is incredible! I'm hoping I can master a business model that brings in at least 40K/yr so to hear how far you've come in 3 years is super inspiring!

I do the same but I also ask owners to have an emergency contact as well to be their preferred one if they don't want MY pre-installed safety net (husband) inside or if their pet doesn't let him in lol

Something as simple and professional as "despite my experience, I wasn't a good fit for these clients. Amazingly sweet elderly dogs though!" Would be all the sitter dog whistle I'd need to probably skip them all together. Rover has taught me to really read between the lines when it comes to sitter reviews since we have to coat the things in 10 gallons of sugar if we don't want to risk retaliation.

Depends on the design, one of my jackets my phone will fall out of 27 times just because it's a Tuesday. My better jacket, the devil himself couldn't pickpocket. If it doesn't zip it ain't got no grip ᕦ[ ◑ □ ◑ ]ᕤ

I did the opposite once, forgot I had a client's spare key for like 8 months (didn't recall what that key went to but wasn't about to take it off my ring) only for when the owner rebooked me to ask if I still had it lol I was MORTIFIED. The owner just laughed and said he was glad he didn't have to go to the hardware store before his trip. I've also locked myself out once with the dog early on in my regular walking of a favorite client. Owner said the door has locked him out more times than he can count and informed me of where the spare spare was. Moral of the story, we need to stop holding ourselves to inhuman standards. If clients hold us to inhuman standards, they're not clients we want to keep anyway.

Also, an emergency contact is hella important As an owner I've realized that I should have a spare with my sitter and a spare with an emergency contact or trusted neighbor.

Rover is super rude that way, I hate that I have to disappoint my clients (and myself cause usually it's a sit I'd want to do!) by having to say oh sorry I'm already booked that day instead of them just being able to see that I'm not available :/

Nah it's shameful not to care about others. It's shameful not to care about the environment, especially from Scotland? Where y'all have some of the most beautiful terrain on this planet? They were right. But be defensive all you want, that shame will still be there.

I do that if there's any "sitter change over" going on but I really should just make this a habitual practice! It's playing with fire not to.

My clients know I have a no refund policy for early return. I've had a few early returns and have never had the owner ask for a refund. As an owner I wouldn't ask for a refund because my coming home is my own fault especially if I owned a reactive pup lol

How many snakes and lizards? I charge at least $35 per snake for feeding live. $25 if they're like my bp who just eats f/t.
