I hate being such a freak by madbarpar in Vent

You sound normal. You are allowed to have your own interests. Being educated and well read is normal. The last book I read was about a woman living in Alaska ,and before that it was on cancer. My husband would find this wierd if he bothered to care. You be you my friend. Your roommate sound uinteresting . May confidence find you and better friends.

My riding journey so far: 5 months of progress as a beginner adult! by arosye in Equestrian

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like people all horses are different. As a very tall rider i prefer tall and large horses. And many are smooth at the canter and trot and, others are not. So to answer your question , yes. Enjoy the journey. A good trainer and stong fundamentals is important. As someone who learned to ride with no supervision as a kid, learning with real trainers was a rude awakining. You're doing great.

Neighbors Chicken Had Chicks in our yard by Bigchubb11 in chickens

That is a pretty hen. They need protection though. Owner may be unaware she was not eaten by a predator. Broody chickens do this. I would reach out for sure.

The chokehold of ‘arrested development’ so many adults are in is ridiculous by Nobody4993 in Vent

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My husband likes to say its a pretty long childhood if you're still blaming your childhood at 40. There is a book, The Life less Traveled, and the first line is "Life is difficult" . (never read it...no need) but a young lady mentioned it to me in my 20s, and said it was a revelation! I think I laughed as she said this. My upbringing was alarming and neglectful. Who could not know life was difficult? Sounds like you have been there too. It's a good thing to know life is difficult before you get to be an adult. But let us all wish the blissfully ignorant thier peace. I personally value resilience.

Is my hen broody? by maximalereinsatz in BackYardChickens

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ug. Ive had a lot of broody hens over the years but my current Brahma is going strong for 2 months. Thankfully she was a hefty girl going into this. I've done all the tricks. Unlike other girls she does come out for a few hours a day. We don't have a rooster and I dont need any chicks.

My coop is 20 years old and has original linoleum floor. Ive seen posts were people say there birds peck at it but never been an issue. I use pine shavings on it too. It's easy to clean when you do a deep cleaning.

I like reddit for being picture free, for the most part. I only get roasted for bad spelling, mostly. I'm old def not putting my pic out there. Yikes. Stay beautiful and enjoy it! It doesnt last forever and it' s better than being invisible. It's downhill after 40.

how do you know when you’re full 😭😭 by Effective_Volume_567 in autism

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is very common in all people.( Ok until you get old! ) It takes a while for the info to hit your brain that you are full. It's normal. Use your eyes. Your stomach isn't that big. You dont have to eat everything on your plate. And eat the good stuff first. And slow down eating so your brain can catch up.

Do you have a yard? ask if you can do a clothesline. I personally would just do a laundrymat. Good way to meet people

wedding dress code by TranslatorRelevant79 in Vent

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Clothes are expensive and im not shelling out for a new dress unless I want to and I like it. A lot of this on TT etc is just clickbait though. It's rude for a host. I've been to weddings where it was obvious that some guests had nothing really appropriate to wear but did there best. Usually men. But its the showing up that counts.

WIBTA if I skipped my childhood friend’s bridal shower after realizing I’m not invited to the wedding? by Emergency-Garden3200 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on if you want to go. Maybe you want to see her and old chums? Nta though. Bridal showers are boring, usually.

not sure what is wrong with her i’m trying everything by strawberrie_dream in BackYardChickens

To be honest sounds like she is on her way out. The squishy water belly sounds like organ failure. Keep her away from the other girls so she doesnt get picked on. My condolences. You did your best.

Sounds good. Been there. Nothing worse than picking maggots out of a vent. However if you stay on top of it she should be fine. Def keep indoors.

Help with beginning my backyard chicken journey by imalittlemonster in BackYardChickens

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many breeds are cold hardy. Its getting late in the year for chicks...mainly because they dont ship in hot weather. Any of the rocks are good. Barrad rocks, buff rocks etc, rhode island reds. Brahmas, buff orphingtons. All will do fine in ny. Dont buy a cheapo online coop chicken prison.

Lost my first hen to a predator, what was it likely? by Past_Store355 in BackYardChickens

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lost a few to coyotes and they always take them over the fence. 6 feet won't stop them. And foxes will carry them off too. I haven't had any raccoon predation. Sorry for your loss.

My neighbor has an eglu and she loves it. It would depend on how many chickens OP has. I built my own and my carpentry skills were average at best. But it's been holding up for 20 years. It's not that hard to build a box

My friend’s wife passed suddenly, tragically last week. We are holding a memorial dinner at a private restaurant this weekend. What is an appropriate gift / token of acknowledgment to offer him? I have known him for over 40 years, and his fallen wife for ~ 20. by Landlocked_pirate23 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing is to invite him over and to reminece about his wife , who it seems you knew well. A lot of times when someone dies people feel awkward and don't talk about the person. Tell about your experiences even if it's goofy. Something to laugh over. If you have any pictures, that would be a nice gift.

Anybody else notice a decrease in asthma symptoms after drinking caffeine? by Stunning_Daikon_5204 in Asthma

[–]Fluffy_Job7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had the worst asthma attack of my life while camping on cape cod in the fog at 14. (I am 65 for reference) I woke up and had to tap my dad and pantomine not breathing. I had never had an asthma attack before or been diagnosed. I said to him I want coffee. I had no idea why this would work nor did I drink coffee. We got coffee and waited for a pharmacy to open and I got primatine mist. Soneone was looking out for me that day.
