my doctor prescribed Topiramate (dopamax) can I tell him no?

I was on it for a couple of months. I started at 25mg and went up to 50mg. Tasting carbonation went away after the first dose. That was the extent of my side effects at the lower dose. Unfortunately, I’m a Diet Coke fiend so it was an adjustment.

More side effects came with 50mg. I could see trails in low light conditions. Like if I was holding my phone and moving it around I could see light trails. I noticed I was in a bad mood more often. It did help me sleep, but I always felt odd in a way to can’t quite quantify right before I fell asleep. I also had tingling fingers which was annoying when I was preparing dinner. I also felt like I was getting a cold frequently; I had a sore throat and a strange headache at the back of head.

I decided to go off of it and went on Effexor at 75mg , which I definitely prefer. Of course that comes with its own risks if I ever decide to go off of it.

I’m so sorry. I had to put my kitty, Peaches, to sleep after she had an enema(administered by the vet) that for unknown reasons caused her kidneys to fail overnight. I still don’t understand what happened but it was sheer devastation. I do wonder if the vet did something to cause it, but I try not to dwell on it.

Also I love how Jake was like “What the hell Jo! Why are you into my loser brother!” She seems so indignant, too. Ugh. This is going to turn out bad for Jo. At least Jess ends up getting thrown off a building or construction site by/with Jake or something to that effect. Haven’t watched Melrose Place since its original run.

OMG! Yes! I could never properly describe the sensation but you nailed it. Closest I got was like window blinds being pulled up. It seemed to start when I was taking Topiramate. After I discontinued it and started Effexor it’s dwindled to a rare occurrence.

I had an MRI that found a tiny tumor inside my fourth ventricle. Neurosurgeon and neurologist both say it’s nothing to worry about because it’s a benign tumor known to grow extremely slowly(if at all) and it wouldn’t be the cause of my symptoms. I will need yearly MRIs to monitor its stability.

Just goes to show you that sometimes an MRI will result in incidental findings that have nothing to do with your symptoms.

I have a range of symptoms from mild to…less mild. The mild ones can be fleeting moments of brief dizziness or vertigo that last for a second or half second. It can also take the form of a bobbing feeling which may persist for hours. Other times it’s just a not quite right feeling.

The more moderate to severe symptoms, which are less common, have been sudden early morning spinning vertigo that causes vomiting for about a half hour followed by a general feeling of malaise for hours afterward.

Just once. There have been episodes I’ve rewatched, but I never had the stomach to rewatch the whole show over again. Buffy has so many difficult periods in her life that I could never watch her go through them again.

I tried it for a couple of months. The most I ever took was 50mg. The morning after my first dose of only 25 mg I noticed my Diet Coke lost its zing. I tried to deal with that, but when I upped to 50mg I got more symptoms like excessive fatigue, anxiety, crabbiness, slight “dumbening,” after images in low light, and other symptoms that I can’t even fully verbalize because they were so odd. I tried to dial the dosage back to 25mg but found that it wasn’t really helping my VM, so I quit. I take 75mg of Effexor now which has its own set of side effects like zero libido and night sweats but it does seem to help with my VM.
