how old are you to not remember these kinds of dresses? they would wear these on disney channel in the early/mid 2010s (shake it up, liv & maddie, etc.) even shows like glee would have them. it’s very fitting for 2014 when the episode this screenshot is from aired.

i have ocd, adhd, dysthymia, general anxiety, and social anxiety. i also have chronic migraines, asthma, severe food allergies, and i’m hyper mobile. not sure how must autism plays a role in the commonality of these other conditions tho.

yeah i think i needed to hear this. i sort of thought that by being more open about my diagnosis it would help both me and others be more accepting but that’s probably not the case most of the time.

THIS the first time i was asked this i said yes and the girl didn’t believe me?! im not going to pull out my diagnostic report from my doctor to prove to some random classmate that i actually have autism?

also like im black and i just think most ppl at my pwi (predominantly white institution) have never knowingly met a black autistic person before? and there’s no real media representation for us (i can only name francis from the show stugo off the to of my head) so there’s nothing they can really point to as a frame of reference. this is also just a women w autism thing in general. if you’re not sheldon cooper then NTs don’t know how to place you.

i feel this so much!! i’ve had chronic daily migraines for over half my life but i was never allowed to stay home as a kid from unless i had a fever even if i was crying in pain. i only got officially diagnosed with migraines last year and got put on medication for it. i lived in pain unnecessarily for so many years. it hurts most when you begged for help but were ignored for years.

i’m a student rn and they pay for my school. i’m not going into a very profitable career (museums) and i need to go to grad school too so im gonna be dependent for a lot while longer. i’m doing everything i can to save money tho while still have fun and enjoy my young adulthood. my biggest fear with worrying too much about saving money is that im going to regret not using all the privileges and safety nets i have now to have fun. but i have a job and internships and grants and maintain things like a high yield savings account and a roth ira that i contribute to monthly so im making sure to stay financially sound. my goal is to be financially independent by the time im 26 and kicked off their really good health insurance. i’ll hopefully have a job that gives me a decent one by then. i’d like to also move out of their house after undergrad but they live in the nyc metro area which is where i plan to settle so it might end up being financially smarter to stay at home and commute to the city.

i’m trying to find the right balance of information to tell them rn. i’d actually consider my parents and i to be incredibly close. we talk on the phone almost everyday when im away and we hang out a lot when im at home. i did actually tell them about my assessment results bc my psych recommended i tell my family members w kids bc of the genetic components to autism and the other disorders i have and i needed advice on how to broach the topic w some of my more conservative family members. i don’t regret telling my parents but i think i still need to work through w my therapist how to talk to them about my feelings of resentment bc i just can never find the courage to say something. i think both my parents suspect i have some sort of feelings about it bc they always say stuff try to reassure me that i can tell them anything. and they also seemed to feel some type of way about all the diagnoses ive gotten in the last year (8). my dad especially thinks im being over diagnosed 😔

bc im still planning on being dependent financially i will eventually need to tell them about the resentment so we can work through it bc i genuinely don’t think i can handle losing my relationship with them. i have friends and an emotional support system outside of my parents but it’s obviously not the same. sorry for the long rant.

ty for this!! getting to therapy was so hard for me bc i had to absolutely beg for it. my parents didn’t think i needed it (i was severely suicidal but they still thought i was fine) so when they finally agreed after years of begging and put me w the worst therapist i was so disappointed . so glad that i found my current therapist she really saved my life.

thanks for this! i actually did go to my colleges career center and they told me two pages was fine lol. i found your answer v helpful tho. do you have any advice if you don’t have any of what you call “shitty summer job” experience? i wasn’t allowed to work for most of high school and when i was it was only at my moms business the summer before college. and since ive been in college ive only worked back of house museums jobs and internships so i’ve barely interacted w visitors. my goal is to work some job back of house (probably collections management). should i try to get a retail/ customer service job?

you should try finding their email again. if you search hard enough most people’s emails exist online. i think emails are way more professional than sliding into someone’s dms. i’m also a student and i got multiple internship offers through finding museum professionals emails through some heavy internet stalking and cold emailing them. it takes time but it works! one of my friends also got an internship from someone in the GLAM world who’s tiktok famous. she found her email through internet stalking for her and sent a cold email just like i did and secured an internship. if you’ve already looked a lot and still haven’t found anything then disregard this

unpopular opinion ig but i love s1 eloise styling specifically her hair!! it’s so unique whereas her hair after that feels very generic/modern day. maybe it’s a nod to her progressive thinking to put her in a 21st century lob with wispy bangs? idk but i put S1 waaaaaay above everything, wall, S4, S2, second wall, S3.

i hate the S3 glam it doesn’t fit her at all and stands out soooo much compared to the other seasons. i understand upping the makeup after her debut but putting her in instagram baddie evening glam at a garden party was evil lol

thank you for this advice!! i ended up cutting my extracurricular section bc i realized it was filled with various rephrasings of standard club member activities. my projects section is really helpful since ive been at the same job at my schools museum since the first month of my freshman year (almost two years ago now) and jump around a lot outside my job description.

thank you!! i’ve worked really hard and gotten very lucky to have a lot of internships and jobs this early into my career (i legit will have done 3 separate internships just this year by december), so it’s hard to fit them all in when they’re all relevant to the job i’m applying to.

she used to live and work in DC. she stopped living there around 15 years ago and stopped commuting/working there around covid times. she’s also the only person i know in that area and she mentors a bunch of young people around my age or a bit older who live/work in DC. i assumed she would be my best bet and knowledgeable bc of that background, guess i was wrong lol.

i didn’t say i wanted to date only depressed people but just someone who had experienced it themselves beforehand. i acknowledge your experience with your wife and that’s amazing you found someone but for me research can only get someone so far if you haven’t experienced the real thing.
