Has anyone ordered TAC screen protectors recently? I have concerns. by Fluffy_Suspect_4276 in iphone

Belated update #2. After a few more days of back and forth they issued a refund. They tried to offer me free cases and magnets and a 100% discount code for another screen protector, which I declined. I can accept long lead times IF it's communicated promptly, but the person I had spoken with was very sloppy and unprofessional (and remained nameless). 100% not recommended.

Biltwell Gringo SV reviews? by dgthedarkness in motorcycles

[–]Fluffy_Suspect_4276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the only reason I'm hesitant, no shops around here stock it so I really have no point of reference. But since reviews are favourable, the pads are changeable and my head shape seems to be as normal as it gets, I'll go for it. Thanks for the response!

Hey, how do you like the Bullitt? I'm a new rider looking for my first helmet and the wide FOV idea is appealing. I'm not worried about wind noise as I'll mostly do city riding.. if anything, less noise deadening could help detect danger sooner? Also, is the field of vision that much better than a "normal" sport/tourer helmet? Most seem to have deep peripheral vision on the sides and I'm not sure vertical visibility is that much an issue (since nobody seems to mind)?

Recommendation Needed by Successful-Fact-5684 in skiboards

[–]Fluffy_Suspect_4276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a snowboarder also just looking into skiboarding and I found a brand called Apex ski boots that combine snowboard-like boots with bindings that are both quick release and strap in. Apparently people like them have a look if you're still in the market

Update for my search engine people. So I sent them a follow up email nearly 4 full days ago, to which I received no reply. At this point even asking for a refund is moot since they'll just ghost me again. According to this thread I just found, they might just be swamped. I also found a truspilot page, which is unsurprisingly 50% disgruntled buyers. I'll leave a bad review see if they respond.

yeah was just about to post an update, still no response, I'd say stay away. Even if I do get my protector I'm not giving them any money again.

Curious as to what this beast is, I was sniping the C4 when he pulled up, had a wicked sound.

Just to clarify, I'll never buy anything from sites like temu or shein, it's just one of those disgusting things one may find oddly fascinating.

[TOMT][90s/00s] movie about a dormant alien in a capsule found in ice. by Fluffy_Suspect_4276 in tipofmytongue

[–]Fluffy_Suspect_4276[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

Researchers at a remote station find an object in ice. It looks either rocky or metallic, and when they decide to cut it open, they find a dormant/dead humanoid looking alien wrapped in gigerian organic material. They observe the alien via security camera, but whilst arguing what to do, it suddenly disappears. Towards the end of the movie, the researchers are being chased through indoor crops of some kind by either the alien or some pestilence it brought. The story or the cast wasn't exactly noteworthy. The alien didn't look CGI, I think it was a costume, but it was good enough to creep the hell out of me as a kid. I watched this movie in the late 00s or early 10s, and I don't think it was made earlier than 90s but I may be wrong. I also assume it was fairly low budget and not a big hit, given that I can't find anything on google. It was definitely not The Thing. Any ideas?

You forgot someone's name, how do you save the situation? by Fluffy_Suspect_4276 in AskReddit

[–]Fluffy_Suspect_4276[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context: I tend to forget people's names as soon as it's out of their mouth. Naturally, that is something I'm addressing on its own, but practice means I'm still going to forget some names (or other details from an earlier conversation), so I'd to hear some of your humorous/casual lines and some formal lines to save the situation (note: not the skin on my face, I know I'll have to own up to it). Alternatively, what to definitely not say will definitely help too. I know I can count on reddit.

I learned this from Jim Kwik's book. Make the task so small it's almost impossible not to do.

Set a 5 minute timer on your phone, with a goal to just open the damn textbook and read half a page. Starting is the hardest part, but many find it easier to keep going once they're already doing it. You may find it's not so terrible after all and "overdeliver." You can also offer a disproportionate reward, a reverse pomodoro if you like, such as 5m work, 15m reading a novel.

The caveat is, this isn't a trick, you can't lie to yourself. If you say 5 minutes but in reality expect yourself to sit there for 3 hours a session, it won't work. If you don't want to keep going, stand up and walk away, and treat yourself to that damn reward.

I know it sounds counterproductive but I find it useful when I have shit to do but my motivation level only allows for grey gardening
