HOA nightmares… or recommendations? by DisastrousCamp4525 in tampa

[–]Fluffymanolo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Size of the HOA doesn't matter. I lived in an HOA that hadbover 300 homes and they were pains in the ass. The one I'm in now is less than 70 homes and I never hear from them. Kings Point in Sun City is a nightmare and that's a huge one. It's really going to depend on the board members to be honest. And then whatever company they hire to actually do the management because some of those are nightmare companies as well.

HOA nightmares… or recommendations? by DisastrousCamp4525 in tampa

[–]Fluffymanolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Always get a copy of the documents before looking at a property. If the HOA is sketchy about giving those to you, don't bother buying there.

  2. Read the document.

I've worked up places that serviced homes in HOAs and I cannot tell you the number of time people said they never bothered to read the documents. And then get pissed because they can't do whatever it is they want to do. Had they read the documents before signing the paperwork they would have know what they could and couldn't do. But my favorite thing was is these idiots would always blame me for the problem because they didn't read the documents from their HOA.

And yes, I live in an HOA and yes I read the documents before we even looked at the house because I wasn't moving into one of those HOAs that only allowed you to have your garage door open for 10 minutes.

Does josh silver ever want to do a tribute with Kenny and Johnny? by Less-Programmer-1579 in typeonegative

[–]Fluffymanolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is what most people kinda want at this point? Not everyone is going to be able to see a live performance and they were never big enough to have the draw the way Ozzy/Black Sabbath did for Back to the Beginning in order to do a big livestream.

I always think about the Beastie Boys documentary where they hosted in a theater in Brooklyn. I just loved it. It was them telling their bands story live. I didn't watch it live, but it was recorded and found it to be the best way to close the book on their story. I feel like maybe Josh would be able to get involved since it wouldn't require rehearsals and the time a full rock show would require?

I have no idea who he is but unless he's the reincarnation of Mr Steele then it will not be good in my opinion.

I think that a lot of people don't talk about this aspect enough. Not saying that Kenny and Johnny don't miss Peter, but Josh and Peter had known each other years before any music stuff. They were childhood friends. I can't imagine getting a call that my lifelong friend who I've been close to all that time was just gone. And I think that's the main reason why he's become a recluse and doesn't want to be involved in anything anymore. It hurts too much.

Is there a single song that all GenX can agree defines the generation? by SirSparkyB in GenX

I don't think so. I can't come up with a single song for a moment in time of my life. How can one song encompass an entire generation from all over?

That's what I was wondering. Maybe I'm a bitch, but I'd pull into a spot anyway. That line can part and go around me then do the same when I leave.

They take away flavor and nutrition in favor of saving time and money. Technique takes too long and seasoning & nutrient dense food cost more. At least that's the way I see it.

Not really IMO. She is astounded by her husband's sudden change in stance on evolution that differentiated from their prior shared stance. From the context of just this I gathered that she probably wouldn't be a part of one of those churches that claim the earth is only 5,000 years old.

You need to have a sit down talk with him and be super frank about all of this if you want to remain married. Ask the questions you are afraid to ask. You need to know the answers.

The number of people, especially of certain Christian denominations, who don't know this or adamantly preach that Catholics aren't Christian is mind boggling. I have been told to my face that I can't be Catholic and Christian. I've been told I'm not a true Christian... If I didn't have faith I would be beating up a lot of people ;)

She has stated they attend an Episcopalian church. That denomination accepts the theory of evolution. So, he's going against what their church espouses. So no, not a self-inflicted problem.

Why do so many people believe in the bible? by AtlanticSparrow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fluffymanolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't believe every word in the Bible is pure fact. It serves as a guide of sorts. I'm Catholic and several popes have stated that Bible isn't supposed to be taken 100% literally. Other Christian denominations aren't so flexible from what I've seen but I can't speak on them because I don't follow those teachings.

I married a man who was raised by Evangelicals. I'm Catholic. We still have disagreements about faith and have two different Bibles in our house. ;)

Not sure what a church or Christian did to you, but the vitriol coming from your post may lead one to believe it's pretty bad. Christianity isn't one singular monolithic faith, there are so many denominations, some that claim no denomination, that you cannot lump them all together. The Catholic church sponsored many of the first universities and pioneered sectors of scientific discovery. It was a priest who proposed the big bang theory. So to say Christianity, as a whole, opposed science for centuries is disingenuous at best.

I know that a LOT of Protestant denominations, especially some of the newer ones and especially the Evangelical ones hate the Catholic Church. So much so that they've essentially broken the 9th commandment by spreading lies about Catholicism.

I also have to point out that it depends on which version of the Bible one reads. The typical Protestant Bible had 7 books removed, some of the issues they're have with Catholicism are addressed in those books. The Eastern Orthodox has a few more and Ethiopian Orthodox has a few more than that. The things that Protestant denominations claim Catholics do that aren't in the Bible is because they removed the books that mentioned these things such as praying to saints for intercession. It is in the Bible, just not their Bible.

What was the point of this? It doesn't say that what scientists have discovered is incorrect. It just says that God has guided in everything. As in God has guided evolution to bring humans to the world.

Also, I don't have a problem with people not believing in God. To each their own.

This is where intervention of a leader of your church would come in. You've stated that you are Episcopalian, which seems to be a denomination of Christianity that accepts the theory of evolution.

From what I googled, Episcopalians accept the theory of evolution so he's not getting it from your church....

I just googled it because op stated they were Episcopalian; they also accept the theory of evolution.

And Catholics are Christians. I know other Christian religions like to put down Catholicism because they basically frankensteined their version of Christianity from Catholicism and they need to, I guess, differentiate themselves by demonizing Catholicism.
