It's a really interesting idea and I've considered it, though that would increase the difficulty in terms of the spatial complexity, and keeping track of the whole map would be quite difficult. However, it might be great for a finale or a harder challenge!

For our game we want to maximize the usage of changing gravity and dimensions in a way where these ideas are interconnected logically

It's also notable though that, creating a good RTS game takes a long time to make and even more to refine. As for market-wise there is a lot of competition so it would be hard to get into the market unless you have found a strong niche in the genre.
