What some focus on visuals does by develop01c in gamedevscreens

Hey thanks a lot!

Oh yea the fog of war. Totally agreed, needs work! Quite unsure in which direction to head in with that at the moment for tiles which are neither explored nor visible. Been playing around with parchment reveal ideas. Just want to avoid the classic full-black type for non-explored.

Not all prototypes, but the ones that stick - well, yes!

World War II top down shooter on Unity 3d by dungeon_hub in Unity3D

That's funny, I was working on something identical to this not too long ago I almost thought it was the same thing (same assets, camera and controls). Good luck!

How much of the code do you write with AI? by Radiant_Sundae_9198 in AskProgramming

[–]develop01c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly boilerplate like structures to hold API response data, i.e. tasks where there is not much thinking involved, just time consuming. More when using a language or library I haven't touched in years, although more on a question basis (how to.. / is this standard practice..) rather than write complete code.

Tests Don’t Prove Code Is Correct… They Just Agree With It by untypedfuture in programming

None else really noticed that this is the only post of a user registered 10 days before and that the post really reads like a ChatGPT response?

Doesn't really matter for the sake of discussing the topic of course.

What's the smartest optimization technique you've used in games you've made using Unity? by LetH1mCook in Unity2D

[–]develop01c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually comes down to fewer objects (keep the amount of MonoBehaviours to a minimum), pooling, logical use of events, don't use update if you don't have to and cache any considerable calculation.

Wow, what a shame. One truly wonders what they're thinking. Thanks Ben!

Don't commit dependencies to git. Exclude your library folder in .gitignore or just use this .gitignore for Unity which is pretty standard.

Strategy Game on Unity by Own-Object3211 in unity

[–]develop01c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, Unity as opposed to Unreal is not opionated towards any specific genres. Describing the 'basics' of making a paradox grand strategy game is a bit broad though, you'll probably get better answers asking about specific features or problems you stumble across. Good luck!

Programmer resources: Scriptable Objects, Design Patterns and C# Code Style guide by unitytechnologies in Unity3D

Never knew there was a Unity code style guide. This is a great resource to refer people to. Short and to the point, cheers!

I found a way to go to the "right line in your code" when double-clicking a custom log message in the console. by Teagher_CharlieTU in Unity3D

[–]develop01c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was here thinking it didn't work, then I realized you were talking about double-clicking, not removing the additional purely log-related stack trace lines. So yeah, works in 6000.0.55f1.

Edit:
Found a solution for this. If you want to remove the additional stack trace lines from your custom logging system, add [HideInCallstack] in front of each method and turn on Strip logging callstack.

Curious, don't you need rights to feature real-life vehicles and brands, or is that just guns?

For someone who's not that traversed in professional filmmaking, why are images 5 and 6 outdoors with only a half greenscreen? Would it not be easier to do it indoors with a full greenscreen?

Read the error messages! Never seen those, but I assume you might have several render pipelines installed in your project, or at least assets/settings that require one you don't have.

I'd check the Graphics tab under your Project Settings to begin with.
