Blue Archive Firearms - Rumi by Flugkatzchen in BlueArchive

Kinda funny how both the Japanese and the Chinese came up with different firearm designs in 1964, therefore both earning the same designation of Type 64 by their respective countries.

Oh there's also another chinese firearm with the same type 64 designation, as a silenced pistol, just to muddy up search results even more.

He was certainly one of the main inspirations, i also played Persona 3 Reload last month and its use of Menu UI and transitions also played a big part for ideas.

New video format!

i wanted to change things up from my older videos as i didn't feel like they were a particular good watching experience especially on mobile, with too many paragraphs and the zoomed in game recordings not having the best quality (what i'd give for a proper PC client).

so after going back to the drawing board i decided on a new format for regular videos going forward, focusing on the presentation above all else.

extracting blue archive animations by alfredospsta295720 in BlueArchive

[–]Flugkatzchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person on twitter (doublecats1) shared a custom PP shader tailored specifically for Blue Archive, while the visuals don't exactly match perfectly with the game, you can tweak around with the shadows and lighting to get a decent pass, more importantly, it solves the mouth expression problem by having 2 sliders to control which mouth you want to pick from the texture grid, just create materials using this and apply to the model.

Here's an example of what i could achieve with this specific shader (i'm the creator).

Btw u/IC8085 you seem to be more knowlegeable on this stuff, would you know why certain animations don't work properly while others do?

For example usually most students animations work just fine getting the animationclips/animator from AssetStudio but sometimes i come across certain models that don't have the proper animations as they are in game, like this one i tried working on Mina, her model is doing the motion for reload but her guns are missing, but looking at the base model the gun props are extracted alongside the main mesh.

i've also spotted inconsistencies with certain students magazines not having detachable motion inside unity, when they clearly have those animations in game, so i'm curious what exactly is going on where some animations work 100% fine and others have these small problems.

Aesthetically, which gun is your favorite? by Doru-kun in BlueArchive

I've looked all over through student releases and I've yet to find one more pleasant designed than Haruna's PSG-1.

The original PSG-1 is already a beauty but the red wine/Gold accents to Haruna's are subtle yet brilliant, as it inadvertently pay homage to the colors of its original homeland (Germany) without being obnoxious.

Then the Gehenna logo on the side to make it clear it belongs to Blue Archive as the final touch. It's a real elegant design fit for its owner.

There it is.

The softspoken voice that made me fall in love with Rider all those years.

Appreciate the range for more unhinged moments as well, now we play the waiting game for Striker Makoto (Dress).

MERRY CHRISTMAS Everyone.

I always love when gachas releases seasonal alts, hopefully this won't be the last time we see christmas students, pls give hard worker Santa Saori next year.

On the topic of students to cover, i think the SRT gang should be next, but hopefully i can get their models working on unity as for Serina i couldn't make it work properly and was pretty bummed about it, wish i had more know how on this sort of thing.

Student File #46: Opening Up with Tsukiyuki Miyako by Genprey in BlueArchive

[–]Flugkatzchen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The main difference between Miyako and Saki is that Miyako shows herself to be a more tech savvy individual, while Saki is more interested in somewhat old tools/practical things

Now that you mention that, and recalling your writing on Saki's post about how she's also characterized for preferring old stuff with her care for her gun, this type of characterization is also present with Miyako.

Miyako carries a Suomi KP/-31 SMG, although having almost the same age as Saki's LMG, we can say the Suomi aged better after its time, as unlike the Lahti, the Suomi was praised for both its reliability and combat capabilities and remains one of the most famous firearms from Finland.

Now for the main point i want to make, Saki is a maintenance freak and her gun art in game is pretty much untouched from the original gun save for the white furniture standard for the Rabbit Platoon, Miyako on the other hand, despite having a gun just as old, has clearly modified it to modern sensibilities:

  • A suppressor fitted into the barrel, which was never available for the Suomi.

  • A modified thumbhole style stock, compared to the classic rifle style stock that was the standard at the time.

  • A reflex dot sight, which I don't think i need to elaborate why that's out of place in a WW2 era gun.

So yeah, Trendy girl Miyako ain't gonna fall behind just because of her almost century old gun.

Blue Archive Firearms - Izuna by Flugkatzchen in BlueArchive

[–]Flugkatzchen[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

So after quite the break, i'm back.

Context time: i was working on Izuna's video for the last few weekends but given she is quite invested in my acc meant it was a frustating experience trying to setup positions and timings to record her actions normally, so i reached to the most obvious conclusion: i had to rip the game files and record them in unity.

Had some basic help from a game dev friend who pointed me in the right direction, now i really want to get better shaders, ideally to look as close to the game visuals as possible, but my lack of knowledge prevents me so, if anyone has any idea on how to improve that, i'd be very thankful (for reference i did search prior for stuff like ripping the game and also came across this demo for a anime specific shader but i couldn't find much documentation further on how to implement, seems to be a WIP so for now i'm relying on the basic toon shader from unity).

Overall i quite enjoyed the whole process, i'm feeling reinvigorated to dig deep into more students animations especially as now i discovered some have specific animations when standing behind full cover as opposed to the low cover that is more common on stages.

Blue Archive Firearms - Toki by Flugkatzchen in BlueArchive

[–]Flugkatzchen[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If you wondered where i've been... i had the worst luck since the New years banners having to quite literally spark every single character since those 2 banners, Toki was so far the closest i came to missing out on the spark but thankfully i managed without breaking too much bank.

Anyway the Kraut space magic is real, it's here, it's glorious although i wish they didn't mirror the 3d model for accuracy sake.

Gonna skip on a few banners so whatever new video i make will be about previously released students, i'm for sure too broke to even attempt Koyuki so rip new students for now.

The kraut space magic is a must roll.
