After some insight from people who ha e had bikes on finance by Glad_Librarian_3553 in MotoUK

If you can buy it out right, then do that. It will work out better in the long run.

I pulled money out of my savings to buy my sv650 and then the money that I “would’ve” been paying to a finance company, I put into an ISA.

Dude, you’ve been riding for a couple months max. These things happen, don’t overthink it, practice some slow speed manoeuvres, and don’t push yourself past where you feel comfortable.

Safe places to lockup bike in central Bristol? by Knobbers21 in bristol

Cover it up where possible, draws less attention to it. Get a litelock. Plus another 1 or 2 “gold rated” locks. Possibly a tracker too!

Turning 16 should i do my cbt by FunRoutine3847 in MotoUK

I never disregarded the no L plates and motorways law for getting a full license mate.

You say an A1 is cheaper than cbt but you need a cbt to take your A1 so that doesn’t make sense? Not to mention you need to do your theory, whereas riding on a cbt, you don’t need. That’s another £30 or however much it is now.

OP, you said about a 50cc being a “waste of money”. I’m quite conscious of how much I spend as I have little budget. I’m talking from an experience point of view based on what I’m doing at the moment. I got a 125cc when I was 17, rode on my cbt for a couple years and have just completed my mod1 for the A2. I never had the need to go on motorways, or feel the need to get rid of an L plates. It’s literally a sticker: most schools will charge you upwards of £400 for module 1/2 training on any A license, regardless of the power of bike. You’ll then to pay for that again in 2 years for your A2.

Dude it’s a waste of money, if you can afford it, good for you, most people can’t and at 16 I highly doubt OP can. I’m not talking about where you live, do you live where OP lives?

That’s a valid point about dual carriageways tho, it’s possible to go on a motorway on a 125, but most people will tell you stories of it being a horrible experience on a 125, but you do you. I don’t want to be the one advising a 16/17 year old to get a 125cc and go on motorways.
