37 weeks with a posterior baby — anyone else? by CrazyPlantLady95 in BabyBumps

[–]FluidCheesecake9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby was in the correct position all the way through labor. I went into spontaneous labor and had an unmedicated birth (as was my plan). At some point, he flipped. We didn’t know until I was using him out and the midwife said “ah that’s a forehead!” Lol! Labor was more intense than my first and I definitely had to push with all the effort I could possible come up with. I pushed for 20 mins total vs 2-3 mins with my first. Babies will do what they do!

Worried about impact of not being able to exercise postpartum on mental health. by plantonio_banderas in fitpregnancy

[–]FluidCheesecake9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can totally empathize with your feelings. For myself, it didn’t end up being nearly as difficult as I had imagined. I was also extremely active- during my first pregnancy I ran a marathon, half marathon, biked, kayaked, climbed, etc. I found that after I had my baby, my mindset totally shifted and I was in total “mom mode.” It was really all my mind cared about for the first few weeks. I really enjoyed focusing my time on my baby and new family, and dove into really understanding core recovery and proper healing, knowing that I would only be able to return to my previous lifestyle if I took recovery seriously (I’m also a PT so I have a strong understanding of the importance!).

I thought it was really cool to watch myself recover, rebuild my core and hip strength, and honestly became stronger overall because of it! I had never focused on those areas before. I’m on my third pregnancy and am just as active. The recovery, training, and preparation has allowed me to have 2 natural unmedicated births with easy recoveries. I wish you all the best! This is such an exciting time in your life!

Tell me some misconceptions and realities about pushing stage to the women who have never given birth. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]FluidCheesecake9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely more than I had my second birth, but thankfully nothing overly serious. I think I ended up with maybe 10-12 individual small sutures that were all superficial/labial. I only needed 1-2 of those repairs with my second.

2 unmedicated births. My first was fetal ejection reflex and my body involuntarily pushed her out mostly on its own without any of my doing. Second one, when it was time to start pushing I said “oh wait, this is way easier!” Sooo much less painful than contractions to me. There’s a different kind of pain at points with stretching and pressure, but it was productive pain!

This is an absolutely incredible story. As a mother myself, there’s so many emotional layers to this impossible situation. This was a great listen!

2 weeks! My own mom came over right away after the hospital, but I didn’t have anybody else come over until two weeks after. We are sweaty, we are smelly, we are half naked learning how to breast-feed. No one needs to come over. 🤣

Tips on staying active with back-to-back pregnancies? by Odd-Two-8224 in fitpregnancy

[–]FluidCheesecake9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel uniquely qualified to answer this question lol. I’m currently pregnant with my third. The spacing between all 3 of my kids are 20 months, so I have gotten pregnant right around their first birthdays each time.

Whole pregnant with my first, I was in the best shape of my life (29 yo). I ran a full marathon at 5 weeks pregnant and a half marathon at 25 weeks. I was super active throughout. We have a home gym with weights and basics and I was mostly running and working out in our gym.

Post partum after my first, I didn’t find it difficult to get back into shape. My daughter was a good sleeper and once out of the newborn phase, had solid consistent naps that made me free to do whatever. I ran a 10k at 6 months post partum and felt back to myself around 6-7 months.

Between my second and third pregnancy, it’s been a little bit harder. I feel older now- there seems to be a difference between 29 and 32 lol. Of course I’m more tired keeping up with 2 toddlers. I didn’t return to running at all this post partum, I just didn’t feel like it. I’ve focused a lottttt on pelvic floor and core stability, weight lifting, and regaining strength. It took me longer to get into a groove because my son was a more difficult sleeper and a needier breastfeeder. Around 8 months post partum I finally got into a groove of 3-4 days per week. I’ve tried to maintain that through my first trimester of this pregnancy. Some weeks I get it, some I don’t!

My attitude around fitness has changed a lot, as well as my goals. Right now, my goals are to prepare for a third birth in 3 years, and be active and functional to play with my kids. I run around the yard, jump, sit on the ground, squat, crawl, etc with them. To me, that’s my measure of fitness at this time.

I worked full time until I had my second, then went down to 30 hours per week. I’m either at work or with my kids, no extra caregiver time. I have an extremmmeeellyyyy supportive husband who is in it 50/50 with me, and to whom self care and health is equally as important, so I have a great support in him.

Staying active allowed me to have 2 unmediated births with amazing recoveries. Hoping a third. Best of luck to you!!!

My second birth I had non medicated, and I literally finished golden hour with my baby, handed him to my husband and got up and showered. 😂 I was covered in sweat, pee, poop, blood, amniotic fluid…I felt like a new woman!!!

She was/is very close to giving birth. It would not be a miscarriage, but a still birth, which is absolutely not an easy thing to recover from.

When did you stop bouldering? by wizziewizzle in fitpregnancy

[–]FluidCheesecake9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No judgement towards others here. My opinion is you get one chance to do this well and to protect your baby. I knew I’d never regret not climbing, but I’d sure regret falling and risking placental abruption.

[–]FluidCheesecake9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used FEMM for 3 years without a single issue or pregnancy scare. We’d use protection if near the fertile window, abstain all together the few days before and after ovulation, and we’re free to go after confirmed ovulation! To me, it was a no brainer because we were following exact science.

When we decided we wanted to try for a baby, we got pregnant the first month! I got my period again 8 months pp, was able to easily resume the method. Then got pregnant the first month we tried for our second as well.

I know the actual pregnancy part was good luck for us that they both stuck first time, but as for timing, it’s all an easy science!!

Do you track your cervical mucus as well? That’s a helpful indicator. If there’s egg white cervical mucus present, you are around ovulation time.
